Glad you brought up jalen green as a rockets fan You're right about the shot selection, the problem is that jalen appears to be very good at one specific kind of three (catch and shoot) and not very good at really any of the other kinds of threes you can do (even though he really likes doing them and thinks they're really fun to do like stepback threes, pull up threes, threes off a screen, contested threes, etc). His finishing at the rim is okay, he's better than FVV and not as good as Amen Thompson in that regard. He also has supreme confidence in his midrange jumper which pretty much never works but my heart goes out to him for trying all the same His main problem is that the basket seems to have some kind of homerian siren song coming out of it when he has the ball in his hands. He simply must shoot it. On top of that he tends to go at one speed which is really super fast and if the opposing defense can make him slow down and not go as fast as he wants he gets kind of confused and ends up taking a bad shot then likely missing.

Magic fan here, KCPs 3 are mostly like semi-contested, theyre not wide open shots, but its not like its a bunch of shots with a hand directly in his face, his shots are mostly coming against close outs. The Magics shooters arent scary enough to get defenses in a mess rotating around and leaving someone open. He cant really shoot less tho because we need someone to shoot 3s, I think Gary Harris could have an underrated positive impact on our 3 point shooting when hes back, he generally been a solid 3 point shooter, especially in the corners.

KCP and DiVicenzo have the same problem right now. The main guys on their current teams aren't being given the same amount of respect as the main guys on their previous teams. There's no Jokic on Orlando for KCP, and no Jalen Brunson on Minnesota for DiVicenzo. And since these two developed a reputation for making 3's in high-pressure moments, their teams somehow think they can keep making these late-in-the-clock 3's despite an obvious difference in situations they are being put in.
@whatshorts11 күн бұрын
what teams right now could optimize those two guys?
@TheFluke3211 күн бұрын
@whatshorts Ja Morant was mentioned in the video, and in DiVicenzo's case, it only makes sense if the Grizzlies offense mixes in a few plays that do run pick-n-roll for Ja Morant (Grizzlies currently almost never run pick and roll) so Ja can gain more gravity and pull a lot more defenders on him for the kick out pass. But if the Grizzlies doesn't, Ja will keep getting single coverage for eternity, and DiVicenzo won't get the same looks he got when he was on the Knicks. Quite frankly, if anyone trades for DiVicenzo or KCP, they really need main guys like LeBron, Jokic, Luka, or Stephen Curry. Otherwise, these 3nD players are never gonna get the open looks they need to make those 3s they used to keep making. The main guys need to have bigger pulling power, enough to give KCP or DiVicenzo that few extra seconds to get open. If not, it's going to be the same song and dance all over again.
@bookaufman964313 күн бұрын

Its just ignorant to have him on here. Shooting is just one part of Hardens offense that helps open up other parts and hes obviously coming back to normal %s after a cold start.

My two least favorite players in all basketball back to back. James harden at number two and Trae young at number one. From your comments I get that you seem to like both of these guys. I don't really like ISO players so much but there are some that I like because I think they play a winning style. Both Luka and Kyrie are ISO kind of players but they've managed to figure out how to do it in a team system. Trae young and James harden are both chuckers and guys that sometimes really slow down the development of a well-rounded offense. It seems like now they've both decided that getting as many assists as they can is the way for them to shine. I know that they both had their limited quality playoff moments but not very many winning moments between the two of them. Luka and Kyrie have both been to the finals and can take that ISO system or iso type of play and make it work in winning basketball.
