@mxr2000 I don't think so. Even if he could run around, he has no timing or rhythm and the other guys wouldn't be used to playing with him after all that time off.
@bballbreakdown
@bballbreakdown 13 жыл бұрын
@mepatrick But he won't be able to control the ball and THEN score from the SG position - you know what I mean? When he brings it up, calls a play, and then fires up a shot - that's when it's bad for OKC. If they swing it around to him, he gets a weakside screen - THEN he shoots a much better and open shot.

@Wymetime While I criticize Westbrook for playing angrily and not in the moment, hence bad decisions, I don't necessarily blame him. You are who you are, and I truly believe he simply isn't a point guard. They should stop trying to force a square peg in a round hole, y'know??

8.5 Assists? So if I pass the ball only 8 times and those 8 times I get an assist, does that mean i share the ball a lot? If those 8 assists came from all fastbreaks does that make me a good play maker? If I pass the ball solely for the stat and not the play making or that my team will get hot, does that make me a good play maker?

I think your'e right and i think this is what prooves that even if you manage to get 20 points 6 rebs and 8 assist like westbrook does, doesn't mean that you're a great point guard, don't get me wrong Westbrook is a really great player, but not fit to play point guard unless he sets his mind to the mood of the game, a good point guard makes plays with or whitout the assist, westbrook is too impatient (like me lol) he's really good but impatient but like u said if he played sg it take away stress

To all Westbrook haters. Let's not forget all that Westbrook is capable of when thinking he should be traded. Consider game 4 against the Grizzlies. Highest scorer on the Thunder and second highest amount of assists.(Harden had 7, he had 5) Or you can take into account game 7 where he had 14 assists opposed to Harden's close ranking second place of 3 assists. Yes, he has a lot to figure out, but give him the time. People should really consider all the facts before jumping to conclusions.

I think the Thunder need Westbrook to win this series, whether it be as a PG or a SG. Thunder are lucky they won this game. I'm sure the Mavs will adjust, and will be ready for that small lineup the Thunder used in the 4th quarter.

If Westbrook wants to be a scorer, why not make him one in the mold of Vinnie Johnson from the 1989,1990 Piston Championship team? If he can't run the team, I can't see him being part of plays and share the ball when all he wants to do is jack up shots. What about him in a second unit with solid defenders calling his own number, for short periods. Instant offense to wear down the opposing defense.

@bballbreakdown Also your first point contrasting how they run the offense is another example. You are applying greater importance to what Maynor did to run the offense than is true. Yes he dribbled the ball to the left side of the court but Harden's the one that delt with Terry better. If Harden would have cut more to the top instead of toward Westbrook. Westbrook would have been able to pass him the ball. This was mostly Harden's cut not Westbrook's "torpedoing of the offense."

How is it that everyone thinks that Menor, Manor or whatever his name is is a better leader for this team over Westbrook because of 1 video lol ? Yes he has times of being unpatient, who doesn't ? And really the team belongs to KD so if you give him the ball you will win as a franshise lol let's not forget Westbrook is an all star and makes the team a dynamic one by adding his quickness that the backup can't do . All star > Backup . Just saying

Hmmm...i fear that if Westbrook starts alongside Maynor, he would have yet another temper tantrum if he didn't get the ball. I would really bench him for the rest of the playoffs and then trade him in the off-season. I just want to know what happened to him? I mean the guy was one of the top 3 PG's in the NBA for most of the season and then BAM! It's as if something turned on his selfish button. very frustrating to watch!

@bballbreakdown In your second example, you are once again implying greater significance to Maynor's contribution than is necessarily true. In Maynor's part, the Thunder are better spaced and instead of Perkin's setting the screen, it's Durant. The defense is going to honor Durant over Perkins. So it was easier for Maynor to get to the hoop when the help went back to Durant. It was more circumstance than Westbrook's fault. He could of set up a play sure but these aren't fair comparisons.
@alexanderfarah
@alexanderfarah 13 жыл бұрын
@iTzxZizzle dude the point is westbrook needs to keep himself controlled and not take so many shots, heck i reckon hes like AI, he should play SG more as its better for him
@KFourTwenty
@KFourTwenty 13 жыл бұрын
@bballbreakdown Well you can't make claims about what Westbrook would have done late in the game. There were plenty of instances in the regular season where he would bring the ball back out in late game situations when the Thunder needed to waste clock. Westbrook's not the smartest basketball player but that comes with time/experience. I say we keep him at the point. Maynor is a perfect backup. Start Maynor and then who comes off the bench to run the team? Harden is best left at SG off the pine
@kabalcage
@kabalcage 13 жыл бұрын
No no no no..... You have it all wrong about Westbrook and Maynor starting together. Keep in mind, this team has been playing Westbrook at PG for 3 years; you can't change the status quo in the Conference Finals! What Brooks did (i.e. benching Russell) was the correct decision. With Westbrook, you take the good with the bad and you need to know when to pull the plug on Mr. Hyde. Having Maynor with Westbrook is a problem because Maynor would turn into just another jump shooter.

@chipsa86 Like I've been saying - play Maynor and Westbrook together, at least for a couple of stretches. Play Collison and Ibaka together a lot more!

@bballbreakdown you make a lot of great points about Westbrook but he's going to learn. It still irks me that you made claims about what Westbrook would have done. Hypothetical situations do not make for good analysis. He was an All-NBA Second Team point guard. He has all the physical tools necessary to be a great point. The IQ will come with time. The dude is 22, playing the toughest position in the NBA for the 3rd time in his life. He'll get there. He needs to calm down. Work on body language.
