Larry Brown took a bad Clippers team to the playoffs and then took the Pacers to the brink of the NBA Finals as a number 5 seed. He also coached a 6th seeded Kansas Jayhawks team to a National Championship. He is the perfect coach for teams that feel they have a chip on their shoulder. It's unfortunate that he went to the Knicks. If he stayed in Detroit it's likely they don't fall apart against the Wade, Lebron, and KG and win another NBA title.

@@LebronJames-bj3yu over-aggressivess was a problem on Chauncey's part. His foul trouble was a problem, but the Sheed and McDyess played the game right. They were doing their best to bottle up the greatest pf of all time. In a road playoff game, you're gonna get called for more, but you gotta do what you gotta do. It was actually a major coaching blunder sunk them in the 3rd. Larry Brown outcoached himself by taking McDyess out. It's game 7 and he's a bench player. Ideally, you're not expecting to put him back in the game anyway after the 3rd so just let him play it out as long as possible, then throw Sheed back in. Best case scenario, you don't miss a minute with either guy on the floor. Worst case is, you still end up missing them at some point but you gave your team the best chance to win for as long as possible. Instead LB gimped the team defensively for nothing. It happens though. Great coaches hurt their teams on the biggest stages just like anyone.

I earned so much respect for Detroit. They were one of my favorite teams when I was a kid in the late 80s early 90s. But, being from Texas, I couldn't cheer against San Antonio, they are the heart of Texas and this is one of the best Finals matchups I ever witnessed. Great defense, great fundamentals, great determination from both sides, and came down to the wire at the very end of several games. Its sad no one mentions Tim Duncan in the top 5 all time. He made all their clutch shots in that run against the thunder among others. Crazy underrated.

I'd probably say he was the best player on that team, Kawhi was just more impactful in that series due to circumstance. This postseason was actually the one title run where I think Manu was their MVP throughout it, maybe not in the Finals (arguably, though), but I give him the edge in this run. Guy was just so efficient and impactful.

@@chrisuncleahmad That is your opinion. I remember watching that game 7 with my best friend, his dad and brother. We all agreed it was one of the best game 7's we seen in a long time. We all had watched NBA basketball since the 1970's. Not saying you are wrong, because it is your preference. Remember, everyone has an opinion on what kind of game they like. I personally love defensive games. I much rather watch a 17-10 Super Bowl where others rather see a 42-35 game.

@@anthonyzarate9807 There’s a fine line between 17-10 and 6-3. Heck, I don’t think a 20-17 game is bad. A 7-6 game with only 1 touchdown OTOH is not good football.

You gotta respect a series where both teams are so disciplined on defense. It's almost like watching a hockey game where both goalies are on fire. You just know that every single point you score is super valuable. These days, a guy will score only to completely blow his defensive assignment on the other end.

The Spurs were really a dynasty. They won it all 4 out of 8 years (99, 03, 05, 07) and the years they didn't win it all they were still in contention. They came within a few seconds of winning it all in 2013, then went back in 2014 and utterly destroyed LeBozo and the Heat. Also, I think Duncan-Ginobili-Parker is the best "Big 3" combination in NBA history. They were beautiful to watch.

Yep. Made 5 Finals with Duncan/Parker/Manu on the team & Pop as coach (with Kawhi there for 2). The Warriors made 5 Finals with Steph/Klay/Draymond on the team & Kerr as coach (with KD there for 3). Lebrons teams played those 2 teams in a combined 7 Finals. So silly the haters hold his team losing to those teams. Harder to dominant when there are 2-3 great teams in the league. Easier to dominant when ur the only 1 (from '92-'98 the Bulls were the only great team.... great teams keep making Finals not just get to 1 or 2).
