@@andyw3627 I think Benn has definitely improved in some areas defensively, namely he's made an effort to make the doubles Carlisle's system calls for and he is a really good helpside defender if one of his teammates gets beat. His rotations are solid as well whenever the defense gets caught in a scramble picking up on whoever is open. Main issue with him still defensively is whenever it is him 1 on 1 with someone. Benn is strong and long, and he needs to be better about being low and using his length to prevent opposing players to get around him. He can get blown by pretty easily. He definitely needs the 1 on 1 defensive improvement especially when he's on an island (something we've seen Aaron Neismith excel at this year, but Aaron's great on d in general) but his effort and skill in the other aspects is certainly improved

In 13 career games he plays 35+ mins? 23 7 3 1 spg 48/37/84 +6.2 per game Pacers 8-5 (50-51 win pace) I’m just of the belief coaches need to let their young high upside players play/learn/develop through their mistakes especially when there is no one close to all star level “in front of them” (Buddy Hield who when his 3 is off is one of the worst 2 way players in the NBA). I prefer the way Blazers are doing it with Shaedon Sharpe this year (averaging 36-38 mpg through all the ups and downs and it’s starting to pay dividends. I get not the same situation, I prefer that over Carlisle short least and Monty Williams short leash for Ivey. I care more about the big picture and seeing what you truly have with your young high upside guys). Give him 30+ mins more often letting him/learn develop through mistakes Carlisle!

Many coaches allow their highest upside players to develop and learn through mistakes bc it’s about the big picture. It would be one thing if Buddy Hield was an all star but he’s not close to that.

good stats; interesting that his worst statistical games are when he plays 20-29 mins. worth noting ab those 4 games w 30+ mins: all against bad defensive teams, though against some decent wing defenders

What good does it do this teams future by taking Mathurin out of the starting line up? For Buddy Heild...... i dont see the intentions behind that move or how its a smart move in any way. Maybe coaches feel like they have to "win now" or they'll be fired. I don't see why else they would do that shit. Mathurin is an enormous part of their future.

Reminds me a bit of dwade's game... his style and change of phase. Mathurin is a better 3 point shooter tho. But dwade is more athletic and faster plus passing skill and dribbling skill i'd go for dwade plus IQ. Mathurin is still young and can develope all these skills..
