F'real I cried a little bit when I first heard this. Nash was the first player I ever watched play, and is without a doubt my favorite player of all time. Nash and Stat is the greatest duo I have ever witnessed with my own eyes in a live game. Best Sun of ALL TIME.

He was 1% field goal percentage from averaging a 50/40/90 for his career.. Crazy. His last years on LAL don't do his stats justice. He was involved and mainly the leader in 5 of the 11 greatest offenses of all time.. Wow.

Yip Man ray and kobe were both in dunk contestants and in there early years dunked on everyone. Nash hasnt dunked in the nba (for what i know i could be wrong) Nash also is not fast as hell or quick. just incredibly deceptive with perfect fundementals

Nash is very quick. You have to be quick and fast to get in the paint and nash did that consistently. He was like 6'1 so of course he wasn't going to be doing tomahawk dunks. Hell Chris Paul rarely dunks. But nash is very athletic.

Gary Thompson except it was. It was well known by the other owners that the league didn't like Robert sarver, the owner of the Suns, and because of that they didn't want the finals to end up in Phoenix, so the refs fixed games by making certain calls that let the other team win the game aka always the spurs or the lakers. In 2007 is was the spurs, and that BS suspension on amare and diaw

Yuri Marcolino Because I look at it objectively unlike the media who votes on that stuff with personal bias. Kobe was hated by the media not for his play but for who he was. Nash never had that problem. The fact of the matter is Kobe could have scored 80 points more than once if he had not sat out the entire fourth quarter for some of the games he played in 06. He also took a team full of bonafide scrubs to the playoffs in the west and almost beat the Suns in the first round. Kobe was definitely more valuable to the Lakers that year than Nash to the Suns.

Hands down the greatest point guard and human being I've witnessed in my life. Nash was a true treat to watch because he did it all without supreme athleticism only skill and fundamentals. Those 7 second or less Sun's were really a team that had a huge impact on how the game is played today with pace and everything. Sad because at one point the suns lineup had Nash, Marion, Joe Johnson, and could have had either iggy or Deng but they didn't value picks at that time and practically gave them away. Nash and Amare will go down second only to Stockton and Malone as the best pick and roll duo, just really sad Nash is finally gone end of an era for sure.

I think what worked for Steve Nash is that he came into the League with a profound sense of his place-as far as his skill-set, and knew how hard it would take to break out against that era’s PG quarterbacks. And he made up for that with an unimpeachable work ethic. For an unheralded kid who grew up playing soccer, Nash’s longevity in the NBA-not to mention two League MVPs, is remarkable. As far as lineages go, you can trace that back to Cousy, Stockton.

Steve Nash is an example of what happens when you work hard and practice constantly. A guy who was not a good athlete, did not have great quickness, and was not very big. Steve Nash's talents were all things you learn, and can practice at getting better at: Shooting, dribbling, passing. You don't need to have great natural gifts at those skills but if you work hard at them every day you can make yourself a great player.

Steve Nash was a heck of a guy. When the suns played the Wizards at Washington, the only way to get from the baseline seats to the sideline seats was to cross the corner of the court. Me and my father waited for the court to empty before we crossed, and before it emptied, Steve patted my dad on the back and said "go on ahead". Our seats were behind Steve on the bench, and after that Steve was talking to us the whole time he was sitting on the bench.

I see where some talking heads and fans have Chris Paul ranked ahead of Steve Nash on the all time point guard rankings - they are out of their minds! Nash is a two time MVP, a truly great passer and ball handler, and one of the greatest shooters of all time. Nash ranks with the greatest point guards of all time and I'm sure Mark Cuban regrets trading him to the Suns.

He could have gone to 3 Finals!! 2006: Lost in the Conferencer Finals, without Stoudemire. They even took two games. 2007: Lost in Conference Semis against Spurs... refs... Anyway, they would have beaten the Jazz and Cavs and won the championship. 2010: Metta World Peace Buzzer Beater. 3-2 deficit, series was over.

It's really upsetting that Nash never did win a ring. If there was one player who deserved a championship more than anyone in the NBA, it was Steve Nash. We will miss you Nash.

43 49 and 90 for a career. four 50 40 90 seasons. Only two of the seven players to get 50 40 90 have more than one and Nash doubled Bird's total of two with four. and third all time assists. How is this guy slept on? The most efficient scorer ever as a fact and the third best assister. Also a fact.

Some people in the comment section say that Kobe deserved those 2 MVPs and say that Nash stole it from him. Guys, it's not always how it turns out to be. Even though Kobe scored his 81 point game in '06 it doesn't mean he deserved it. To be the MVP in a season, you have to be the most effective player in that season. To every game, your stats must be high enough to get you to be the league leader in that season. Nash proved that through his hard work (talk about a guy who has no athleticism) and it paid off for him.

So cool that he's going back to his people to try to teach them the game he loves. We need more awareness for this particular minority in the game of Basketball.

A perfect example of a player who managed to dominate without these qualities: height, quickness, insane athleticism. All skill and court vision.

A lot of people say Nash didn't deserve his MVP's, but I think he was the most valuable player to ones team. Without him, Phoenix is probably in the lottery, instead of deep in the playoffs. He's the ideal PG that's always looking to get his teammates easy buckets and is about as efficient a scorer as anyone.
