Chick Hearn Awkward Interview with Clyde Walt Frazier - 1979. Chick Hearn and Johnny Most were to east/west coast "voices of the NBA." Instrumental in the NBA league awareness and branding in it's formative seasons. TV networks were not granting the National Basketball Association a primetime broadcast deal back in the 1950's through 1980 so fans of the fledgling league got their hoops fix (and information) from Chick Hearn of the Minneapolis and LA Lakers while Johnny Most was the raspy east coast, lunch pail toting, cigarette smoking, blue collar voice of the Boston Celtics.
Johnny Broadcasts are rare. Interviews are even more rare. Conversely, Chick gave us a treasure chest of nightly content in the form of player/coach interviews at halftime or post-game.

I didn't feel the interview was awkward. Clyde was always a classy guy as was Chick.

How was that awkward he asked him questions in Clyde answered back with class and grace the only thing i thought was funny was Chick calling him " Walter" and asking about salaries and Walt being diplomatic said the athletes deserved it then Chick said you are only saying that because you get your 10 percent Clyde being a agent in all that was a messed up thing to say but Clyde kept it classy with his answer.
