Keith Van Horn had a solid year avg 19.7 ppg 6.6 rpg 1 spg and got 3 first place votes. Timmy should have won unanimous but for whatever reason a few voters would always vote for another less deserving player just cause to prevent a unanimous winner or award a different player because of "voter fatigue" 🤦🏽‍♂️

Larry Bird was 4th in MVP voting, All-NBA 1st, 14th in the league in points scored, 8th in rebounds, top25 in assists, 15th in steals, 3rd in 3pt%, 5th in 3’s made, 6th in box plus/minus, 1st in defensive win shares, 6th in defensive rating, 8th in win shares! Based on efficiency, I still think it was pretty close to Holmgren. Though I think that Wembanyama has a higher ceiling offensively and defensively.

@@LLG47 my argument against that is that Chet is mainly the 3rd option and benefited from playing with a mvp player. It doesn’t negate what Chet is and will become but context matters and shows that stat reading isn’t everything. So I completely disagree that it was close. Victor impact is much more important when he’s on the floor especially by the 2nd half he was probably the best player on floor most nights but the spurs roster just lacked talent/depth to keep up. Again Chet will be a great rival and all nba type talent but wemby is by far one of the best rookies ever

I remember being in Colombia when I heard that the Spurs won the lottery with Wemby! Admittedly, I stopped watching basketball as a whole after Tim Duncan left. Timmy was my favorite player from the get go. I had a distant relative pass away years ago, and it was said that Timmy paid for the funeral, so he became even cooler in my eyes. I feel Victor is gonna be special in his own way, and I hope to see his growth as a player in the upcoming seasons. Hopefully we can get that 6th ring! Congrats to the ROTY 🥳
