The guys from last season would feel like they proved they can step into the main roles because of how they performed and ultimately would clash with Kyrie and Hayward when they got back because it'd force them to step back into lesser roles. Egos was always going to hurt this team, the problem is people thought that this was 2k and by adding more talent it automatically meant it would be a better team but the chemistry was affected by all the egos.

The problem for the Celtics was they had a bunch of young bucks last year who had the playing time, the ability to be stars, and played like it a year ago. Now, with Hayward and Irving, they weren't allowed to do their best. they had to play less, give more, shoot less, score less. the problem with this is, they get the crumbs, instead of getting to eat. these guys are playing for a deal in the next 2 years. They won't get a deal by passing to Kyrie.
@BWalker93135 жыл бұрын
Ya know what I continuously think. “Man if Gordon Hayward never left Utah” I’m a big fan of his, thought he never should of left Utah, had that gruesome injury, comes back and just hasn’t truly found his game or his place with the Celtics, been pushed backwards by Tatum, Brown and Kyrie, and if he would’ve stayed with Utah it would’ve been Rubio, Mitchell, Hayward, Favors and Gobert. That’s a good starting 5. Sad that’s the way his career is going

Celtics won on pure talent to make it to playoff and lost when chemistry was needed. No one is willing to share and I think with the AD trade rumours swirling, the young guys became selfish. As a Celtics fan this is my opinion on this season the young guys didn’t buy into sacrificing for the the good of the team since they were basically 7 mins away from the nba finals they thought they were ready for prime time Tatum & Rozier clearly took step backs from last year Brown to some degree but finished strong, Hayward I give a pass only because of his injury can’t judge him until next year as for Kyrie I think he saw how hard it is to be the alpha/leader & hopefully he learns from this I hope he resigns but I expect major changes regardless of what Kyrie does
@nomads79785 жыл бұрын
Hayward ship has sail for me. Bring all the young guys and trade Hayward and Hartford for some picks. Cavs are interested in hayward. Bring some free agent.
@davidatwilliams5 жыл бұрын
I believe that the in fact it was Kyrie and Hayward that messed things up. I reckon that the younger player such as Tatum brown and Rozier had bad sophmore moments but lets be honest Hayward was playing way too many minutes and that was on the coach. What was more telling was that Brad Stevens is not an isoball coach he is a pass and move coach and you are given an isoball player in kyrie and at best they looked disjointed offensively and it meant that player like Tatum ended up emulating Kyrie and was worse for it In the series the Buck are going through a learning curve game 1 was a lesson for them games 2 3 4 and 5 was a clinic in how respond as a growing team Now were Tatum Rozier and brown ready for prime time.....it could be argued no but I do think that question could be applied to Kyrie and Hayward too. No one comes out of this season well Loading up on he young player when Kyrie shoots less than 40% from the field is just too much of a reach in my view there is plenty of blame to go around

The whole Celtics season was a disappointment. The main problem was of course chemistry but I would focus more on tactical on the floor chemistry rather than stuff in the locker room that we won't know anytime soon. First of all, I think people forget that this version of the Celtics team struggled to put points on the board for much of last year too, even during the regular season when Kyrie was healthy. Despite being a young team, they often underutilize transitions and fast breaks and rely mostly on the half court offense. When they run their plays properly and with good timing, they actually showed that they are able to keep a pretty steady output of buckets, the problems start to surface when they begin to take early and/or contested shot, and that's when you'll see them have tough stretches and suffer opponent's runs. Furthermore, their offense was pretty heavily reliant on individual scoring prowess last year too, and this year we saw a significant regression from Tatum, Brown and rozier compared to last year's playoffs' scoring levels (Tatum seemed to get worse at that midrange game while last postseason he looked unstoppable). Either last year was an unsustainable exception (which is entirely possible in my opinion) or other issues got in the way of their performance. These issues are mainly the return of Gordon Hayward and secondarily of Kyrie Irving, and the difficulty in getting everyone into a good rhythm by Stevens. Gordon Hayward was immediately reinstated as a starting player at the beginning of the season and Stevens kept him there for much of the first half of the season even though he was obviously heavily underperforming. He struggled to find the right rotations and this may well have disrupted the confidence and the rhythm of the two other wing players, Tatum and Brown. Rozier's case was a bit different because everyone knew that he wasn't going to start instead of Kyrie and he had had the time during the 2018 RS to get used to come off the bench, in fact I think the 2018 playoffs saw his first inclusions in the starting five, thus it was a bit strange to see him struggle in a role which he had had for pretty much his whole career. Coming now specifically to this series, many of these issues manifested themselves in an obvious way. Kyrie essentially managed to be efficient only when he was driving to the basket with consistency but fell off when he started to take contested shots and quick threes. Brown actually picked it up and was maybe the best Celtic in the series along with Morris while Tatum was bad pretty much the whole time and Horford looked great the first two games but then didn't have anything more for Giannis defensively. Hayward played maybe a little better than what I saw in the RS but he still had little to no impact on the series, he basically played like a modest role player, which of course wasn't what the Celtics needed at all. By the way, I'm not bashing him at all bu he undeniably didn't play like his former self this season. The Bucks are a good team in my opinion but I think you can beat them if you can match their scoring (which I think Toronto may be able to do and certainly GS, Houston, Denver can. Not sure about Portland) The Celtics didn't do that, and they deserved to go out.

Kyrie told us everything in the interview. He said he wanted to get back to Boston, instead of saying he wanted to go home. 🤔

Kyrie Irving acting like he doesn't care about losing sums up the Celtics season quite perfectly

Surprised nobody mentioned despite all the talent the Celtics didn't have solid ability in the Center position. Even in the era of 3 point small ball you still need front court talent starting with the Center. Look how much more the Warriors are struggling without DeMarcus

brent harris that’s true but the his family is eating fine but 3 million to a normal person and a pro athlete are not the same also these players are thinking about future like how much do you think rozier could have made if he was a free agent after the playoffs last year versus what he’s possibly looking at now after losing badly and coming off the bench and u never sure when a big injury can happen so he has a reason to be angry

@@travisj8110 I agree with you. I agree with Chuck that he's worth a lot more... A bigger contract will buy perhaps a nicer house and/or cars... Not sure it will do much to his food budget 🤣
