On the cusp of a new decade, the familiar voice of a trusted anchor helped to inform our day, after dinner, before bed, after homework, and before adulthood took over with it's mundane worries, taxes, and fears.

Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings, and Dan Rather were the three best journalists in the news. Sad there's no one like them out there anymore

Watch ABC's David Muir today - and his 'stance' with his fingers touching the desk leads to instant anxiety...
@smadaf
@smadaf Жыл бұрын
@@musicom67 , David Muir is like the guy who wants to be the anchor of the local news in the middle of nowhere and isn't good enough to do that, so he's talking excitedly in front of his mirror at home. No. Wait. Sentences aren't allowed. It's participial phrases: David Muir every night like a failed local anchor, talking excitedly in front of a mirror, viewers meanwhile turning off TVs and walking away, the anchor driving American commercial network television to a totally new abyss, Peter Jennings meanwhile rolling over in his grave.

We can see some news credits use vertical scrolling from bottom to top, some are horizontal scrolling from right to left. I knew YLE in Finland and most TV news in Taiwan, credits mostly are using horizontal scrolling. What else news ending credits also use horizontal scrolling?
@smadaf
@smadaf Жыл бұрын
With interlaced scanning, vertical scrolling tends to be easier to read than horizontal, at least with the Roman/Latin alphabet.

So was the inventor of television still alive in 89 or did they just do a report on the inventor of television?
@smadaf

Television, especially, is an invention that doesn't have a single person who can be called "the inventor" of it.

yes, more ads as the nightly news is almost 50% commercials with the second 15 minutes PR pieces mostly. With none under 45 watching the end roll is never more than a few bars and the long close extinct as sadly these shows will be. I say this as someone with probably the most nightly news watching time in the country, constantly switching during the ads betw CBS, NBC or ABC

Blame that on the need for more commercials and the push for more “fluff” news since the early 2000s.
