Such memories - used to stay up and watch this on summer nights just before MTV arrived on the cable dial

NBC had Johnny Carson followed by David Letterman followed by NBC News Overnight at this time, quite a line-up for late night!

The best news program ever!!! Bring back Linda Ellerbee, if only as a creative consultant.

Nice to see another episode of Overnight. Thanks for uploading! 😁

Great memories I use to stay up just to watch this show. We didn't have cable yet in the country. I remember watching also re-runs of McCloud and McMillian and Wife besides the Million Dollar movie .

Linda Ellerbee would later become the host of Nick News.

Man, as someone born not long before this episode aired, it's striking how much more interesting and engaging this show was versus what passes for MSM "journalism" now.

I liked when Linda didn’t care and spoke from the hip. Bill could take difficult subjects, break it down and put it in headline form.

I love Linda Ellerbee. I hope she is doing okay. I was a kid then but have always been a night owl. I remember this, before we got cable there wasn't much on at night.

Being a night owl I used to watch this nightly as a pre teenager.

I'd known of Ms. Ellerbee long before that. In 1973-74, she was a reporter on WCBS Channel 2 in New York City (this, while Chris Wallace was toiling as a reporter at Chicago sister WBBM).

@@wmbrown6 I was 12 at the time, so that explains why I first knew her on there.

Look at all that paper on that desk. Makes me feel cozy and nostalgic like it's real news and not like the looks of everything today.
