Ha I remember this commerical too back in the day growing up in the Suburbs of Chicago in Naperville in the 70's. To this day when someone asks me certain things I like to respond by saying Ancient Chinese Secret, ( of course I have to throw in the Chinese accent as well), even though I'm not even Asian I still think it's funny today!!

In spite of the fact that i've always loved Susanne Pleshette, i could never stand Bob Newhart or his show. Never laughed ONCE at the simple minded jokes. Frankly I could never sit through more than 10 minutes of this awful show. It was not watchable then and it still isn't! Fortunately Susanne made some good movies worth watching.

If that was a regular basketball for the slam dunk (WGN's was the 6 buckets and ping pong balls) children that young wouldn't had been able to lift the weight of a basketball hardly to say anything about being able to toss it up high. I bet hoops 2 through 5 never seen the ball. This show was pathetic compared to WGN 9 Chicago.

Whoa! I never realized her hair was glued in place! So stiff and dry looking, YIKES! So that was her secret: hairspray, spray, spray. Judith Light of WTB? tried to recreate this look and failed miserably.

As soon as I heard that music again after all these years, even though we watched it every weekend at home, I was instantly taken back to my grandparents' house. The smells as Grandma made dinner, or occasionally roasting hot dogs in the fireplace using the gadgets my Grandpa had fabricated, the layout of the room...all of it. Flood of great memories from a time long gone. There's plenty of great things to be thankful for now, but oh to go back to visit for just a while (and maybe another 3pm Sunday interlude, presented by Frazier Thomas). Thanks for the look back to a happy time!
