When I was in high school, I came home in time for The Doctors and Another World.

The Doctors was my all time favorite. I miss the Powers,Aldrich and Dancy families and half hour soaps. I wish they would bring the half hour format back with smaller casts.

RIP Vic Roby, the NBC announcer in this promo. Moment of Truth came from Canada where it aired on the CBC. The Doctors was originally produced, owned and sponsored by Colgate-Palmolive, who sold the show to NBC in 1980. Another World was always a Procter & Gamble-sponsored, owned and produced show.

THE DOCTORS debuted Aprils Fools Day 1963 (as did GENERAL HOSPITAL on ABC),...but with a different format. It had week-long story arcs featuring one of four main characters--one not even an M.D. but the hospital chaplain. With the New Year 1964 it was revamped onto a more traditional continuing drama.

And to think that in 1984 on April Fool's Day, Smokey Robinson fund out that his Buddy Marvin Gaye was assassinated by his own Father, then in 2009 The Cast of Guiding Light found out the show was cancelled. In The UK there's also a Soap Opera Called "The Doctors". Does anyone have any real early clips of Another World. It started being broadcasted in Canada only in 1972 until it's cancellation in 1999.

And Douglass Watson would return to NBC nine years later in his most famous soap role as Mac Corey on Another World. A role he played from 1974-1989.

On "Another World", that was Susan Trustman as Pat Matthews behind bars for killing her boyfriend after a botched abortion. Does anyone know why Ms. Trustman left the show?
@ronald34194 жыл бұрын
I remember reading that she was burnt out after a few years because one plot line after another depended heavily on her, like the abortion, the murder trial, etc. I'm not sure if she married as soon as she left but she did before very long. On the "We Love Soaps" web page, there is an article about the abortion story, which was the first one ever on daytime or primetime TV. I made some posts on there about when I watched this as a 10 year old. Susan's son, who was born several years after all this, also made some posts. I forget her married name, but he said she was still living, was married, and had two children.

Hi, I was not born at that time, a year later, but my mom talked about this story and about Pat Matthews and the killing .....of her boyfriend. I started watching the series in the early 70's at age six, and it was not imaginable for me that Pat Randolph was capable of murder.....yet here we are, and you just confirmed what I was told as a little kid , that she did kill whats his name, Tom? Somehow, she got off and married her lawyer......when i was still a kid, her husband was murdered by some insane woman named Olive, and then there was the Brava betrayal with Cecile......Pat left Bay City shortly after .........as a kid, I absorbed this tv show because it truly was well written and the actors and actresses were incredible. Thanks for your post.
