NBC Today Set Transition (Sep. 7/10 1990).

During the northern hemisphere summer of 1990 the bright, chic living room style NBC Today set, in use since 1985, was dismantled and partly re-assembled upstairs at 30 Rock in studio 8H. When Bryant and Deborah returned "home" to studio 3B on September 10 1990, the living room had been replaced with a modern, intricately decorated glass, tile and wood set.

As a media nerd, I really love when a TV show cast talks "shop" like this and showing different parts of the set, showing studio cameras and behind-the-scenes crew. People like me who could probably never get hired at a network facility just eat this stuff up.

Actually hated this set! The 1985-1990 version of studio 3B was the best with the skyline behind home base and the legendary living room area. The 1st version of studio 1A in 1994 was good too, as well as the September 2013 refresh.

Ah, Bryant Gumbel, First Job Worked At NBC News As A Today Host, Then He Moved To CBS News Hosting Public Eye and The Early Show, So Now He Hosting HBO Sports Newsmagazine Show Real Sports. I Love Deborah Norville, Both Worked At NBC News and CBS News and Now Hosted Inside Edition On FOX29, In A Fact The Show Gonna Move Back To CBS3 In September Starting At 7:00, Cause Entertainment Tonight Moved To New Time At 7:30pm Soon As Their Gonna After Finishing Off The Series Finale Of The Insider!

Gumbel's first job at NBC wasn't on "Today." He'd been at NBC as a sports reporter for some 10 years before getting the "Today" assignment in 1982.
