People are able to travel freely from the south to the north without restrictions; however, we face limitations when it comes to crossing with meat. Recently, there was an outbreak of lumpy skin disease in this region as well, indicating that no area can be considered entirely free from such threats. The central issue remains that apartheid-like divisions persist in Namibia, especially if the removal of the red line is delayed or obstructed.

Namibia must establish its own legal framework, distinct from the laws instituted during the apartheid era. It is crucial to create a clear distinction between an independent nation and one that was previously subjected to apartheid, particularly given the divisions created by the border. A unified Namibia requires one president and one nation, with a legal system that reflects the values and aspirations of its people in the post-apartheid era.

Namibia is independent forever, the red line is a man made and can be removed. The are ways to do it without making people of Namibia worst of nor poor but in fact improving the situation of all Namibian citizens. The issue of all Namibians to be poor has no relevance whatsoever without proper mechanisms in place.
@anthonygurirab82684 күн бұрын
The lawyer said EVERYONE WILL BE POOR IN NAMIBIA. As far as that version, does it not include Mr. Amupanda and me as a person in Namibia? And is it not a personal statement made by the lawyer, which the judge didn't ALSO aired the same he did against Mr. Amupanda
@gwetetalyamuhongi37033 күн бұрын
Ueitele has to behave the way he is towards Amupanda. You know he is from Omaheke and all the Hereros their farms are there inside the fence. For decades they had benefited from the EU and other international beef quota and other meat products. Therefore the idea to remove that fence, to allow the northern farmers also to benefit from the market, they will not support it!! I personally don’t feel Ueitele to be the right judge to preside on this matter in just and fairness.

Any changes to the red line policy must be accompanied by a well-defined plan that safeguards market confidence, and prevents potential business losses. Rather than hastily lifting this policy, the focus should be on developing comprehensive strategies that enable the northern market to export and sell meat effectively without jeopardizing existing trade relationships.
@retatuhetjikotoke67984 күн бұрын
They are testifying that they plan to establish a market for exporting meat from the North to various countries. However, one must question the timeline for such developments. Will these plans ever come to fruition, or will they remain unfulfilled, leaving us to grapple with poverty and stagnation in the meantime?

I agree that the redline needs to be removed, but fact still stands that northern farmers are inconsistent when it comes to disease control like vaccinating consistently every year. It may be due to fact that they are mostly subsistence farmers and lack of funds but this might change once the line is removed and they start monetising their farms. Continue Fighting Crd Amupanda💪🏾
@efraimhamukonda8295Күн бұрын
The case of the State is weak. The government needs to understand that fundamental human rights cannot be trampled on. All farmers must be treated the same, if a disease erupts, all farmers must just be at the same exposure of the disease.

@monikanaholo11954 күн бұрын
So now the government is brought to Court and all of a sudden they have measures to be put in place? After 35 years after independence? So they have an arrogance of using statements like they have a plan to better the people in the north of the redline? Are we second class that all we deserve is to made better off over time? What an arrogant and insulting to the people of Namibia. Prof Amupanda, we applaud you for this bravery. We support you and we are proud to have someone who have common sense. What infuriates is that they put the European and Westerns above our interest. European or the West does not give a flying cat what Africa think when they make their decisions, yet these suckers are not even ashamed to state that the reason the redline is there is because our meat won't be exported into those markets. Now we understand that this cordon Fencing was originally put in place to keep the black people out, now the colonial regime did that people to them us black people were not human like that and I can except that because well, we didn’t expect anything good to come from them. What I cannot except, is people using that very same tool that was elected to subject our people to peverty and humiliation in the independent Namibia. By uphold that fence, they are simply continuing the colonialism of the people in the northern borders. How can we accept that as a people? How can anyone trying to justify that? Yes removing it will have consequences like any other decision in life. But it's disrespectful to the people of Namibia to tell them that we need not to remove something that we all know it's origin and how it's using to benefit the few at the expense of the masses.

The removal of redline has personal benefits and mostly benefits infant business and black markets and it doesn’t benefit the government, and the government is what keeps us going economically. Positive impacts on people of Namibia - improves the standard of living - people get to travel freely with anything they want -people tend to start businesses in the south Negative impacts on the economy of Namibia - black market - high inflation - high interest rates - high unemployment - high taxes -increase in government spending -decrease in exports - low GDP - health issues
