Soooo glad we got out Monday afternoon! It took us 23 hours to drive up to Atlanta because the traffic was stop & go for 90% of the drive! Gas stations were out of gas by 7pm so they would just close up. Fast food service restaurants were out of supplies so they closed early too. No gas, no food! Luckily we had brought our own food and extra gas. We finally found a Chevron gas station in the middle of Georgia that had gas. I wish everyone the best of luck with this bad boy Milton. A couple of decades ago, I was in Ocean City Maryland during a tropical storm. It had been a hurricane that weakened by the time it came to Maryland. I lived across the main road to the beach, so I tried to go down near the beach (not on it, I'm not crazy) to see the big waves, for fun. Well...I never made it. The rain wasn't bad, and the streets weren't flooded, but those winds!!! The winds blew sand everywhere, visibility was like zero, so I went back to my rented condo.

Tornados have been the biggest stressers this afternoon. Over 50 alerts. Milton is a high end Cat 3. The winds and surf is coming in on the west coast and the tornados are being checked out on the eastern side on the Atlantic.

I’m in an evacuation center now in north port , at a middle school , it’s rainy and windy , hurricane has not landed yet , one good thing about this area is that it is slightly higher elevation than where I live, nearby, so hopefully no life threatening flooding.
