Tropical Storm Debby is pouring down rain on Florida making this storm what some would describe as a 'Debby Downer'.

@@Elyx235not denying that climate change or climate shift happens… however it’s pretty crazy that they made it a point in their coverage to blame climate change for things that are very normal regarding hurricane/tropical storm behavior. The reason storms stall and stop moving is bc when they push northward the wind field weakens and storms will slow down in movement and move in less predictable ways. And The reason this storms able to soak up all this warm moist air is bc of its location and also bc there’s little wind shear occurring to break the storm up or weaken it. The next few months are going to have a higher risk of this occurring bc we are in a transitioning period from where El Niño just ended and La Niña is beginning. This creates a scenario at this time of year that allows for a more turbulent storm season. El nina warms up the gulf and the Atlantic and the transition reduces wind shear in tropical Atlantic, which is what breaks up and weakens tropical storms and hurricanes… All this to say they made it a point to say climate change and didn’t even mention that this type of behavior is very much predicted and typical given this years storm season circumstances.

The most climate change could possibly be blamed for this storm is the amount of water the storm holds. The steering is just an unfortunate consequence of being too late for the trough to pick it up, and being trapped between 2 high pressures of opposing flow. The next trough will pick it up and take it away. The way climate change was pushed on that guy's narrative was the wrong way to go about it. He should have been more focused on the amount of precipitable water, which this storm will break records in various places in north Florida and south Georgia.

as far as the tree falling on the house that killed the little boy, i really think cities/states need to make more laws on this. accountability. every storm season, every spring it gets rainy and windy here in tornado alley, and every season, thruout the year, in my MOBILE HOME park! they are taking down dead limbs, entire dead trees. they are preventing this. and this should be mandatory for each and every property owner. then this wouldnt happen. they should be held accountable for not keeping up on the dead and dying landscapes and they should be held for not being proactive ahead of this.
