Good Samaritans save man from fiery crash on side of highway moments before fire reaches him

A group of Good Samaritans was caught on camera saving a driver trapped inside his burning car on the side of I-94 in Minnesota. The driver side door was jammed against the guard rail, but the undeterred group got the driver out just before the fire burst into the front seat. NBC News’ Hallie Jackson has more.

They are starting to make newer vehicles with laminated windows on all windows now so that the windows won’t shatter. People with those windows will have to kick or hit repeatedly to get them busted out because that window tool won’t work on those windows. Instead of making things safer…they are just making our vehicles a death trap.

That was close a second sooner and the flames are coming in the front. That's insane that the guard rail was preventing the door for opening. The odds of that happening are crazy.

Great job by all of them! I've been first on scene of a car fire, and that plastic smoke is terrible to take even a small breath of. Also, the heat radiating off a fire of that size is intense. These were brave people indeed, going Full Hulk pulling the doors against the guardrail with remarkable success.

Before dawn, last Nov, my mom & I were on the busy I-270 S in MD on the right most lane, when a semi trailer truck suddendly hit us from the side & the car spinned several times & we stopped dead on the center lane. Thankfully a good samaritan pulled his car over from behind & shield us with his car until police came.

That guy they interviewed, he was likely Somali, as there's a big community of that nationality in Minneapolis. Lots of good folks like him are portrayed as bad via the xenophobic trends from the far Right over the last decade or so. Hats off to the brave rescuers. That door handle was probably sizzling when they were yanking on it, and yet they returned for a second shot, and succeeded.

Do you always come to feel good stories and inject your political agenda into it. You must be fun at parties. I've never heard one person say there weren't good immigrants. but you can't let the bad seed hide among the good people. You act as if people have the right to come here and we should just keep are mouths shut and let that happen. Little clue is all the fire around the car is where the petrol or diesel has leaked out and is on fire, also the front of the car has a massive amount of fire. Electric cars have their batteries underneath and between the axels.

Definitely have one of those special car window hammers to break the side window glass. They're cheap to buy, but make sure your vehicle doesn't have laminated glass in the side windows, as they won't break that type of glass.
