Jlatr4738 As somebody in a family full of police officers and firefighters there is a strong difference of both firefighters and police officers. Police officers have...dark humor, My mother (which is one of the many police officers in my family) is a very strict parent because police training is extremely strict. but loves to spend time with me and my sisters. Though my uncle (One of the many firefighters in my family) Is a very selfless person. Whenever we visit he is ready to spend time with us and has a light hearted sense of humor.

Really kind of sad when you think about it, though. She was more worried about a potential high medical bill than she was about herself. The US healthcare system is screwed up.
@LordSolidusI2 жыл бұрын
@@PunchDrunkLizzy It indeed is. I don't think the quality of the healthcare is quite as good in my country (The UK) because its understaffed and underfunded, but at least it is free. And I am very thankful for that
@Lore.n2 жыл бұрын
@@PunchDrunkLizzy it’s so messed up people have to pay so much money to be healthy or have your life saved.
@KittenBowl12 жыл бұрын
@@Lore.n It’s also what people consume that raises the cost of medical care. If you look at statistics, it’s clear that the US has among the lowest life expectancy among G7 nations meaning people aren’t generally as healthy as they can be compared to other more developed nations of similar standard of living. That would raise the cost of care and it’s for profit and not managed by a government agency. Like in my country I don’t have to wait like the UK system (which I absolutely didn’t like, the quality of care is very bad there and even if you’re in excruciating pain you are made to wait for surgeries etc.) but you would never go bankrupt as there’s a cap what you have to pay out of pocket. For example, if you’re homeless and have zero income previous year you walk in and out costing you literally nothing. But from what I understand American people don’t want universal healthcare I was told by many Americans. You guys seem to prefer privatized healthcare based on my conversations with people and I’ve actually lived in the US. I never had to go to hospitals or anything for serious illness while in the US but I know many who have to beg for money from strangers like cloud funding as medical costs are almost unbearable when people get terminally ill.

My dad retired from Houston Fire Dept. in 2012 after 37 years. He was 1 of 4 district chiefs in the city limits, and what you say about them being first responders is 💯 correct. His district he led was downtown, the Houston Medical Center, Reliant Stadium and University of Houston. When I was living on UH campus in the mid 90s he was already chief, and he taught me a valuable lesson. He said if something happens and I need help or an emergency? Request fire department FIRST. He even had stats...they would be there in 3 minutes police would take 9. Of course this was big city Houston, BUT I suspect this is true for everywhere. Now granted I was a little spoiled...lol had the emergency fire phone number to his station, but I never had to use it 😉. Brings back memories tho, as I saw him more when I left for college than I would at home in high school due to his hours and mine. While on campus, he'd come visit me twice a week on shift and have late night ice cream dates. I hadn't thought of that for a long time, but yeah fire fighters are amazing!

I’m a type 1 for 32 yrs. My parents always made sure if I had friends around me they would know what low blood sugar look like on me & what to do if that happen. Another thing make sure y’all kiddos have glucose tablets on them at all times and tell them if they start feeling low eat one & then get help. It’s ok to worry about them my parents still do.
@rebekahwolkiewicz449 Жыл бұрын
Encourage him to always carry glucose tablets, even in little pouches. Leave them in the same pocket in each coat or bag, make sure he knows where they are-heck, put the bag in the pouch with his meter. If he goes biking or walking a dog, give him a satchel or so, and always have them in there. Don’t just do one and switch it between clothes and bags, have several pouches so one will be in most bags/cloths
