This happens every time a rich, influential person gets scammed into paying way too much for fake luxury goods in New York City. The regular people know that it's fake and buy it for almost nothing just so they can pretend they are rich. It's not that they don't want poor people to have the opportunity to pretend they are rich, it's that they don't want rich influential people getting scammed.

Where do you get $1 billion, aside from it's a nice even number for a TV network to report. For 220,000 items, it's assumed each item can be sold for an average of $4,545. That's total nonsense. There's plenty of shoes and shirts in the photos. Not $4,545 items. Not even close. Maybe $45.45 if you're lucky. The items look like junk, and would command junk prices, not the full retail price of the item if you bought it from Gucci. Give me a break. This junk ends up at swap meets and on eBay where it's bought by people on general relief. They're not shopping at Burberry.

The reason the knock off market is thriving around the world is because designers are raising prices on any of their bags, sometimes FOUR times a year. That’s absurd. If you don’t want the knockoff market to thrive, then stop raising prices like a fat kid eating candy in a candy store. This is also a sign of the state of the world.
