It won't work out for you. If you absolutely HAVE to have a surveillance camera mounted that way, find one that'll show detail with very little light and doesn't need IR. If you can't afford one, disable the IR light(s) on the camera you have and set it up so that it'll focus its field of view into an area where an outside light is constantly on and preferably not an area where it's very dark or where there's only a movement-activated light, as it takes the camera a moment to recover from it after the light comes on and the video showing what someone does when that light comes on is important to see.
