I've seen burns like that up close before it ain't pretty. It was a friend of mine his care blew up when we were youger. He didn't make it . His name was max. He was a good and funny friend all around.

@@joc_tamai yeah it is. I taught my self field medicine when he was still alive and my old group of friends didn't dissipate. We used to get into flights a lot with a group of rape and sexual harassment loving jerk's. I always patched them up. With max I tried hard to keep the burns from causing serious problems and the piece of metal through his chest and keep him awake. He died in my arms while I was trying to save him. I still get nightmares most of the from what I saw words can't explain how bad his injuries were.

As much as I hate saying it. If they can't get those remaining people out from behind that trapped door then they have to leave them. Its one of the worst calls to make (especially knowing they are alive) but you cannot put yourself, your team and all the other victims whom you are able to reach in any more danger when a boiler is seconds away from exploding. It's basically a situation where you decide a priority and their priority is the people they are able to save.

One wonders why that mattress factory was never condemned over fire codes in the first place. Also, considering everything, an aggressive interior attack of a fully involved basement (especially with a boiler that is on the verge of a BLEVE) is a terrible idea. And that is not mentioning the horrific visibility from all the smoke (not shown).

Some remember it. Some forget due to pain, panic, etc. Some forget due to general memory loss. Additionally, companies that are sketch on safety policies (if I recall in another episode, this company "did their best to meet bare minimum safety standards", which, talk about the bar being on the floor), aren't gonna be front and center with their periodical safety reminders, emergency training, and practice evacs.

A lot of people forget their childhood emergency safety education (through general memory loss or from panic/pain/etc). It's why workplaces are supposed to have annual safety training sessions, in order to keep the memory sharp. Unfortunately, a lot of companies skimp on their safety training, doing the bare minimum, if at all.

What made this fire way worse than any other they fought. Was because the fire was basicaly napalm or at least the non grenade type. Polyethylene was used to make napalm grenade's during the vietnam war it delayed for a bit than boom. Giant arc of fire in every direction. That mattres factory was one big napalm stockpile. I'm surprised not many people died. No I'm not evi its just with fires like this people rarely survive. I'm surprised the company that made the funature didn't get shut down for fire safety violations.

I think it's safe to say the boiler didn't blow or else no show. But probably Ritter is a goner which is too bad. Why is this show so tough on the newbies. And why is Casey's first priority always Severide. Severide broke orders staying behind to help free those people. Casey should have continued with the evacuation and made sure everyone was safe. And then gone back if there was time.

At odds in season one over darden's death to severide in tears in season 2 fall finale when it appeared Casey was going to die to Casey picking severide back up after shay's death.
