I think the major concern people had was LA seemed to be giving away its future prospects for what might just be a 1-year contract with Kelsey Plum and the same for the Aces on top of there's no telling how much longer Jewell Loyd will be able or willing to play given her age.

Kelsey Plum will resign with the Sparks. No doubt. Not only do the Sparks have two elite young talents in Rickea Jackson and Cameron Brink, but the Sparks also have an established WNBA all star in her prime in Dearica Hamby. The Sparks also have proven WNBA role players in their primes in Azura Stevens (another former WNBA champion in her own right) and Aari McDonald. In addition to that, the Sparks STILL have a 1st round pick (No. 9) to net them another young talent. Kelsey Plum is NOT by herself in Los Ángeles. Not at all.

That’s why the Sparks netting TWO elite young talents in Rickea Jackson and Cameron Brink in last year’s lottery was huge for the Sparks. They didn’t give any of their future away. In fact, the Sparks can STILL trade for an all star like Satou Sabally by trading their No. 9 pick this year and a young player like Rea Burrell to the Wings for Sabally. The Sparks have more talent than you think they do. Don’t get it twisted.🤷🏽‍♂️

The Sparks made a huge mistake. They could have gotten a player on a cheap rookie contract, a key floor general, which they badly need. Instead they take a 31 year old player on a 1 year contract.

@ Olivia Miles type of players don’t grow on trees either. Seattle is not some bottom team. All of their moves signal they’re trying to contend now. Skylar and Nneka, Ezi + Gabby Williams and you think they will be in the running for Lauren Betts next year? Seattle is a playoff team as constructed with players who want to win. They will not lose enough game to be in the running for Lauren Betts.
