On the latest episode of The Charter, the crew talks about more key additions to the Bears coaching staff. Eric Bieniemy was once a highly touted offensive mind and head coaching candidate in the past. What does his career arc say about his coaching staff. Dan Roushar brings his experience as the offensive line coach in hopes of changing the team's recent history at the position. Ryan Poles is expected to be extended and what would you give up to bring elite pass rusher Myles Garrett to the Chicago Bears?

Clay is out of his mind. The only reason the Chicago bears job was the best job was because of Poles and the talent he has assembled. He also did it while keeping picks and giving them cap flexibility. Poles has been one of the better GMs the bears have had.

Why do you think the cap space is as good as it is? Why do you think we still have all of our 1st 3 round picks? Ryan Poles! He hasn't been perfect but he's been by far the best GM I remember in our franchise in my memory & I'm 50 & a life long fan

I strongly disagree with your assessment of Ryan Poles! I believe he was handcuffed at his hiring, but now Warren has turned him loose to do his job!

Then you clearly have no clue. He was given full reigns to strip the roster and draft whomever he wanted for 3 years. Get educated, bub.

Bienemy has a flawless resume if you actually know football. He drug UCLA last year into many significant wins and close losses, when that program was on its heels due to Chip bailing out.

Poles drafted Caleb Williams, Rome Odunze, Darnell Wright, Tyrique Stevenson, Gervon Dexter, Torey Tayler. Got us the #1 pick twice, additional picks and Dj Moore. Those are examples and Clay saying that translates to nothing?? I get it, this guy also spent a 2nd for Claypool and paid Nate Davis and kept Flus an extra year. In my opinion, one of the better GMs we’ve had since our Super Bowl run. Cause for concern? Sure. But, I think he’s done the best he could and has another shot to prove it with this years offseason. To say he’s done nothing, is wild.

It seems like the mix with the staff with compliment each other nicely. We’ve got a few ex head coaches, a few head coaching candidates, old school and new school with analytics and the hard nosed smack you in the mouth football guys. Hopefully they improve so much all these guys are getting poached like the Lions experienced this year and the Chiefs do every year.

Hopefully they get pouched in 2027 let us get a couple years in of winning football because the football gods know winning hasn't been a thing here in Chicago in the last few years and that goes for all the sports in Chicago lol!

Good this dude is not an evaluator of Poles job. No GM is perfect but he did not do a bad job from what i can see. Obviously we only can see what is allowed out but i dont see "bad job" here. Unless he has some type of "insider info" i dont know what the heck he's talking about.

He's just jumping on the pile. Whenever the armchair owners start highlighting every miss without taking anything else into accountability, you know you can just ignore them. Because once Poles evaluates himself and hits on some good protection, they'll be right back pandering for clicks.

Good to see that we are making some hires that have played in the league at a high level and were "coached hard" back in the day. These guys then went on to taking on coaching, at various levels, and have gained experience and had success probably because they "coached hard". In this day/age of NFL I am not sure how they can actually coach as hard as need be. Rules about how many/long of practices, when you can practice full speed and hit in practices, etc. NFL even tracks and reviews how many times players are on the ground in unpadded preseason practices and will fine or suspend coaches from practices. I am a diehard disciple of "PRACTICE HARD & YOU WILL PLAY HARD" mentality. Today's NFL players have it easier than ever and if they screw up on the days that really count and get chewed out hard and whine about it I have ZERO sympathy.

Agree,Those players they’ll probably be getting rid of soon enough . Coaches need to say something like in camp I need you to be at this certain way by next week and if not you’re out. Players need to hold themselves in check these aren’t little kids either. BearDown

Dummie Ryan poles got us a no fly zone our corner back are in place, the linebackers are there , the Quarter back is there, the running back room . The defensive line have pieces on it. All this is dude to Ryan poles. Yes he missed on some picks or trade that shit happened. You can't hit on everything. Oh yeah the WR room is due to Ryan poles. He can't get every position in one draft . Now he has plenty of picks to address the trenches in 2025

Clay Harbor is just a disappointed😌 hater. Just like David Haugh. He is openly upset that he was wrong about the GM/Coach alignment rumors. Everyone thought they could influence/leverage this man out of his job but now they know that this is not the same easily influenced ownership from a couple of cycles ago. This GM has about the same amount of Free agency success as Pace had, and a lot more draft day success. They were both rookie GMs, so it's only fair that this GM is allowed time to actually build a team before he's tossed to the wolves. All you arm chair owners need to chill.

Alex, so we're going to give up three of our top picks this year and about 30 million a year for the next 4 years... For one player. When we have multiple spots to fill? That's asinine. There's no other way to describe it. Unless you're trying to cater to the crazy fans that think this is Madden or fantasy football. That's ridiculous. And if Ryan Poles did that, he should be fired.

I think the Bears understand the need to fix that offensive line. We have been dealing with shity offensive lines for years, Ryan Poles has been terrible in that department, and considering he's an offensive lineman himself, he knows he's failed in that department. So I believe they're going to right the ship and focus on protecting Caleb. But on the other hand, we have been looking for pass rushers for the past 2-3 seasons, and Myles Garrett is going to be very tempting for any team, but the price is going to be way too high. It would be nice if they could find a way to do both... but I seriously doubt it.

@moudywaters

The most important thing for the Bears this year is still quarterback development. Ryan Poles has sucked in trying to put an offensive line together with quality players. To use so much draft capital to go after a guy like Myles Garrett just seems to be missing the point when the greatest need is protecting your young quarterback. And Ryan Poles sucks at drafting the 3rd and 4th rounds so they need those early draft picks. I just don't trust Poles to fix the o-line with 3rd and 4th round draft picks.

Squirrel! Don't get distracted by MG even if he wants to go to the Bears. We got a good coaching staff (in paper), roster is decent (in paper) but we need to work on the OL and if we trade our 1 and 2 this year and the next, we will not see if CW really is the "generational" QB that the media has touted him to be. The evidence saying otherwise, but if you do not put guys to protect him then there will always be that excuse why he did not turn out to be "generational" talent. Eyes on the price, not the squirrel or the firetruck that detract the team from long term success.

Poles accomplishments: year 1 created dead cap to start rebuild, no 1st round pick & got 2 DB's LT starters with limited low picks. Year 2, blockbuster draft deal with #1 WR & 2 1st found picks in 2924 & added top Edge rusher trade with these 2023 draft picks Dexter Sr., Tyrique Stevenson, Zacch Pickens, Roschon Johnson, Tyler Scott, Noah Sewell, Terell Smith & almost $100 million in cap space..Year 3, QB, WR 1st & 10th overall picks from trading 1sr pick in 2023. Considering Ryan Pace left Poles with no 1st round pick with little or no cap space. So today Beats have 8 2025 picks with 4 in the top 80 picks. It's a rebuild & Poles just hired his HC Ben Johnson! Poles hasn't done enough? Really you wins without talented players 😅
