They are lucky because if you look at the NC river, it has so many boulders in it, and huge ones at that it will take a lot of work just to remove those rocks to do something like this.

FEMA is underfunded because a GOP House speaker won't reconvene the House to pass emergency funding. They want to leave all these people out to dry so they can blame the Democrats. GOP wants to "rule", not govern. They are incapable of empathy or understanding how important it is to help each other to create a functioning society.

@@ARod-br2uihey arod, I’ve lived in San Francisco, northern Maine, Texas and the beautiful Appalachian mountains and now in Florida for almost 10 years. I’ve noticed that in the city most people stick to themselves where in smaller communities people seem to want to know you. It’s a closer knit kinda thing. I did once go through the big earthquake of 89 and yeah, people did seem to gather together. So, I feel people are the same everywhere when the shit hits the fan. It brings people together.

I don't know what your expectations are but they are completely devoid of reality. It's great that neighbors both have the means and the skills to put up a makeshift bridge. There is tons of infrastructure down with massive needs to be addressed. This is going to take months if not years in some areas to get back to normal. Some things will never be the same in areas where the river has completely eradicated any trace of a road. The way you address things is to focus on the areas where you impact the largest number of people. Smaller communities up in the mountains will inevitably be the last ones to see rebuilding help arrive. I would also think that this will be in the responsibility of the local and state folks. The Army Corps ain't going to build a bridge up there. But seriously, look at the area of devastation and what is required. Not to mention that there is another hurricane arriving tomorrow in Florida which will require an additional response.

Even a large tow truck can be useful here, they have the power and winch capabilities to make a cable line with a snatch block on the other side secured to anchor point, then run both lines out and connect them to each others hook ends to make a single winch line that can run in forward and/or reverse so therefor you can winch supplies over to each side or even people if you can harness them up and tow operator can use his winch controls to send/receive cargo via winch line carrier system. A horizontal rescue line with a man basket. The bridge idea was very nice work, well done.
