I don't have any obc certificate at the moment but i can manage to get one later and also taking the signs of DC's or DM will take very long time so can i fill the exam form by uploading Undertaking only,as a obc document. I would present the valid OBC while the interview process but for now can i fill the form with undertaking only.

Hi Sourabh, Please get an NC-OBC certificate immediately. NC-OBC certificate fulfillments for eligibility, according to the central govt, changes every financial year. That is the reason you have to renew it every year. Note that any increase in your parent's income may affect your eligibility for the Non-Creamy(NC) layer in the OBC list. So, NC-OBC certificate has to be applied every year. Please do not apply for the NC-OBC category without getting NC-OBC certificate as you cannot change your category later. Hi Soumyaramjan, Just as the name says, certificate issue date is what should fill in the box. In case you don't have a certificate issue date - then you don't have the correct certificate. Hi Robin Singh, I don't know what you're talking about. They never ask for any application number. I think you are confused with entry/serial number. It is the serial number of your caste/community in the OBC list. Hi Mangesh, You can apply for NC-OBC certificate in all Indian states as on 12th August. COVID is not a hindrance anymore to apply for one. There has been a lot of changes to the OBC list and being "Non-Creamy" depends on your family income .You never know if you're eligible for NC-OBC for the current year. So, Don't take a chance. Hi, No you should get a OBC certificate from your state govt. The OBC certificate must have the text "does not belong to creamy layer" in it. Your original caste/community certificate is not valid. Format of ncl certificate, which we brought from shop is different from IIM format. But that is also valid. You can't find IIM format anywhere else. Format is already printed, they only write your name, caste, address.

Hi Muskan, NC-OBC certificate fulfillments for eligibility, according to the central govt, changes every financial year. That is the reason you have to renew it every year. Note that any increase in your parent's income may affect your eligibility for the Non-Creamy(NC) layer in the OBC list. So, NC-OBC certificate has to be applied every year. Please do not apply for the NC-OBC category without getting NC-OBC certificate for the current financial year, as you cannot change your category later. Best wishes for CAT 2022!

It is mentioned in CAT website that we should upload a self attested copy and it should be clear... But in the FAQ section of this video it is mentioned that no self attestation is required.... Could you please explain this once ?

Hi Alakh, Yes you are eligible for EWS certificate. Cut offs depends on the colleges you are applying to. EWS category students have up to 10% seats reserved for them. So, it helps if you have an EWS certificate. Best wishes for CAT 2022!

Last year i uploaded my obc certificate which was issued before an year and it didn't create any problem when i got the admit card, but after results comes out and shortlisting happens you might have to apply for new obc certificate.

Hi Harsh, Your certificate is already expired. We would suggest you to get a OBC certificate now! Why take a chance? You might or might not be eligible to get an NC-OBC certificate this year as it depends on your parents income in the last 3 financial years. If you apply for NC-OBC in 2023, and find out that you're not eligible for it (if your father has earned more than 8LPA in the last 3 years), you won't be in a position to change your category for the admission process then. Hi Harsh, Apply for NC-OBC now and then apply for CAT after you get your certificate. If your certificate did not arrive before the application end date, then fill the undertaking form and use that to apply for CAT.

Hello Ma'am, On the official CAT website, while uploading the NC OBC certificate, it's mentioned on the second pointer that "A self-attested scanned copy of the valid certificate should be clearly visible" Now I am confused as to what I need to upload? Should I upload a scanned PDF of the original certificate? Or should I take a photocopy of the original certificate, sign it myself (for self attestation) and then upload a scanned PDF of the self attested (signed) photocopy? Please suggest. I'm unable to find a reliable solution in this regard. Thanks in advance.

As IIMs are central gov institutions, so we need central ncl obc certificate. I don't know even state government are also giving ncl obc certificate.

Hi Yogesh, State NC-OBC certificates are accepted. As long as the 3 things mentioned in the video are present in the certificate, they are accepted. For example, In Tamil Nadu we don't have means to get a central government certificate. But, It is possible in Union Territories like Delhi & Puducherry where you also have an active state government. So, Get the one that can be attained in a shorter span of time in your location.
