Greetings dear brother. You've cheered me up. Another septuagenarian on two wheels! At 65, at the behest of 'her who shall be obeyed', I gave up my GPZ500 and my GTR1000 with more than a little regret. 12yrs later I've just bought a Chinese Zontes Tiger 125 and I am rearing to get back on the saddle. I did the Land's End to Shetland on a bicycle in my mid-50s and don't expect to do such 'epics' again but hope to re-cover most of my beloved Staffs and the surrounding Peaks etc over the next few years. I know my little beauty won't do the ton (thank God!) but with a lot of TLC I expect 'Tiger LL1l' will do me proud. Every good wish and blessings for safe riding to you. Paul in the Midlands (I look forward to the following episodes and others of your vids.)

Paul what an absolutely lovely story. Any bike will give us some freedom - freedom that you just don't get with a car. Just watched a video about the Zontes and it looks brilliant and what a price? If you watch my trip to the NC500 this year you will see I met some guys in Ashbourne who took me around the peak district on route to Scotland - brilliant. In fact if you have not seen that playlist you will get a little introduction on New Years Day when i publish a vid with the best bits of the trip. Good wishes to you Paul in 2024 - maybe we could meet up somewhere.

Well done, you came out of Edinburgh with your bike! Unfortunately, Edinburgh is the capital of bike theft! I saw three neds on a Scooter with balaclavas instead of helmets in Chambers Street a few weeks ago. They would be going to steal bikes. I check petrol stations when I'm on coach tours to see if they have E5. I love older bikes and am a long time member of the VJMC, I don't fancy a new bike. E10 fuel is rubbish. Gairloch and Armadale on Skye are other garages with E5. Two strokes need it.

I've done the NC500 several times, but not on a bike. Fantastic scenery. I retire in just 4 weeks time, so I may give it another go soon.... A four stroke bike would have been better for this journey, as it would be less peaky with more torque.....

Absolutely brilliant series. I rode up the East side of the UK a couple of years ago and used the A68 which was superb, but, I really liked the look of your route. I got stopped on the A7 at Galashiels by those roadworks a couple of weeks ago, I didn't try my luck at getting though, you are obviously made of bolder stuff than me. However, the diversion was up the A68 so that was all good.
