On the 2016 model the strap unclips at the bottom! Hopefully this saves someone 20 minutes of frustration trying to unclip it at the top, as I did. Thanks for the video 👍🏻

Thanks for this vidéo ! Um, I’m French and maybe I’m stupid like all French! I watched this video to see where the battery was and how to take it out to charge it quietly at home. I should have read the comments. I spent some time trying to unclip the strap from the top. I couldn’t. I twisted around like crazy with the lamp to try to see why I could not unclip from the top. I felt it with my fingertips, but had no feeling. Finally, I ended up pulling on the strap and sliding the battery. It was only after the battery came out that I saw the strap pull out from the bottom.

My version is the 2023, and unclipped as shown. Honda have obviously changed the setup.

My 2021 NC750 arrived last week, went to ride it for the first time this morning and the battery was flat! Removing it was instinctive and it is now sitting on a charger, but I came to your video knowing I would need help putting the strap back. It surely would have been better to have the clip on the bottom where you can see it, and I notice in the comments it was on the older versions, but I will try your technique.

Give the bottom hook a go. I struggle with bottom as the battery was falling forward. The top is a pain but I managed it but you have to do it blind. The manual is not helpful in that it says clip strap back on. 😀 If the bottom works better for you share hereto help others. Hopefully you'll get to ride your new bike soon 👍

@@terrysmith-NC750X I ended up refining your technique and it seemed to work well. Make sure the clip is angled slightly upwards from the strap, then when you stretch it as you showed it goes in over the clip, then just use the ring finger of the hand holding the strap to bend the pin downward snd it catches the clip when your release it. The tricky bit is it has to be only slightly upwards when it goes in or it catches the fuse box and bends the opposite way. But thanks for the helpful video, a couple of hours on the charger and I was able to get on the bike in the afternoon. It was gloomy and windy and there was even some rain. It was just so good to back out on a bike!

hey Terry, I've had an issue with frunk access (lock latch issue) and wondered if you've though about fitting an emergency access cable in case there's a frunk problem? Would be great if you could fit one and show us (me) how to go about it. cheers...

Hi Terry…..my nightmare, taking that bloody cover off…top clips on mine were fine, but the bottom two were screwed in, and in poor light I could not see this…..wrong screws…..anyway, broke two screws, lost one clip, bloody disaster….my bush fix, way better than the damn clips…putting Velcro on the battery cover, easy to just put back on, and easy to just peel away….simple….I would say the battery location and compartment way too complicated……for me at least, I connected my battery trickle charge fine, with cable coming out at bottom of battery cover…..all fine, still can fit my helmet in the frunk, though do not, I just keep my puncture repair kit, first aid kit and tyre pump in it…..apart from this awful cover, rest of bike is perfect……bike in my garage in the dry and warm for now…as I am….cheers mate and safe riding in 2024.

Just reset the clock and all will be back to normal. With the battery strap try unhooking from the bottom. Some have found it easier.

Hi yes it's a 10mm socket if you don't have one a cross head screw driver does work if the screws haven't been over tightened. In the video I unclipped the strap from the top. Others have had more success unhooking the strap from the bottom so try both options if you struggle. Hope this helps.

​@akapar Try hooking the strap on the top first then stretch it to hook the bottom. In the video I did it the other way around, which may not be the easiest.

If you're not based in UK search on Ebay they are used on other vehicles and not just Honda. You can get 10 for £4/£5. Hope it helps. In fact I've just order some as spares - they are tricky things that are easily dropped, bounce well and hard to find. 🙂

Many thanks for the video. My NC750X has problems with the battery...it drains the battery and I don't know exactly what's the problem it's a relatively new bike. Maybe it's a battery problem... don't really know...

It's hard to be certain what the cause is without doing some tests. How often do you use the bike? If the bike is being used regularly then the alarm and other system will draw on the battery and over time it will lose charge. You could try a trickle charger to maintain the battery. If your using it regularly, then check the charging system, with the bike running check the voltage across the battery terminals, from memory it should be circa 14.5v but look it up to be sure. I also think the NC750 shows the voltage on the dash. If the charging voltage is ok and your using it regularly then it may be time for a new battery. Other causes will require deeper investigation although you could try these, clean all the connectors they can corrode, check connectors are tight, if you've fitted aftermarket accessories temporarily disconnect them, they may be the issue. Other than that you'll need a multimeter to do some checks for a short circuit. If you can't find anything get it to the shop, to check whether, alternator, voltage regulator is ok. That's probably enough for now, but my advice is replace the battery first, they are relatively cheap and a DIY fix, plus a new battery will eliminate that as a problem. Hope this helps.

If you have a tracker or alarm fitted you need to put battery on a trickle charger, when the bike isn't being used regularly. I personally think the battery isn't up to the job. Mine always seems a bit tired. 21 reg Nc750.
