Holy shit, what a moronic idea! Eliminating walk-ons and limiting rosters to 85 players? That's idiotic beyond belief! Shit, even currently, when teams have 110+ players in the program, many teams run into depth issues due to injuries, etc... It truly blows my mind how incompetent the ncaa is... I'm truly hoping this trash proposal gets thrown in the garbage...

Almost all rules that are instituted by the NCAA are done so at the behest aka suggestion of its member institutions. This means there are probably some schools not happy about their recruiting competitors being able to oversign the 85 scholarship limit with walkons via an NIL deal. I guarantee you some schools are complaining to the NCAA and the NCAA is considering this walk on rule

All you need is 3 deep on each side plus 3 specialists - kicker, punter, long snapper. That's 69, 16 less than current. The schools will be forced to downsize their rosters and some schools will terminate their programs. Don't forget about Title 9 and the trouble this will cause with the non money making sports, which are mainly female sports. The schools should consider billing the players back for services, etc.

Football players have access to the best of everything a school has to offer for free. From doctors, nutrition coach, strength coach, rehab, tutors, all for free plus they make the NIL money. How does this work if they are getting paid and the school is "loosing" money on them?

They need to keep in mind that college football, for most players, is an opportunity to attend school and still play ball. Most of them will not make it to the NFL. Maybe start a farm league for the NFL for those that are good enough to make the NFL

Let the free market reign. If another school wants to pay the player, let them. Don't put in regulations to stop earning potential. Or if you do place the same regulations on the coaches...if they leave.

@Zippadeedoodaa-nt8om the problem with your statement is that it's not a collective decision amongst the schools to pay or not to pay the players. The free market allows that to take place and allow the schools to place whatever value they assign to the players that want to obtain. Essentially if schools A or B don't want to or don't pay said players schools C and D will. Everybody wins and gets what they want via the free market.

Revenue sharing sounds a little like socialism. Why should a school who makes more have to give money to Iowa State?

That is only the point of view of a winner and not of longevity. Fact is, when revenue sharing is introduced its because schools want committed money during BAD and the good seasons. Revenue sharing will allow for longevity instead of 2 schools taking all the money and then college football dieing. Your scare word of "socialism" needs a bit of work, this is not even close to socialism because no matter what the agreement is, the ncaa is not going to give every school the same amount of money. On top of that, its private equity and no matter what there is a private corporation above all the schools, so socialism is absolutely the worst word you could have used. This is capitalism at its peak and I hate when people use socialism as a scare word when literally 99% of the world revolves around socialism such as the military.

If USC and the Ducks have money they should not have to give it to Indiana. But that’s just how I see it. Without NCAA socialism the Buffaloes will always be garbage
