the goalie doesn't have his stick on the ice most of the time in this video when he looks set for the shot. is that not a thing anymore?

It doesn’t really matter given their elite level. If it becomes an issue then address it. If not, don’t mess it with. Working with kids, I like their stick on their ice. With elite goalies, different story. (I.E almost every NHL goalie)
