I don’t know but it seems like more WNBA mock drafts are based more on who shows up in media narratives and less on what they’re actually doing on the basketball court. I also don’t like the bias against shorter players. If someone is effective it doesn’t matter how tall they are.

I think Sania Feagin is worth a closer look, and will get that closer look from WNBA scouts the more the season goes on. Since Watkins went out with the torn ACL, Feagin has burst out onto the scene and taken over with marked improvements in every stat on both sides of the ball. She is an SC product, so the numbers aren't gawdy on a national level, but they are part of that same Dawn Staley program that is going to land Paopao in the W.

All hype? Averaging 18.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 6.0 assists while shooting 45.4 percent from the field is “all hype”? Give me a break. She had one bad year at LSU and people want to write her off. These HVL haters are absurd. She’s been one of my favorite players to watch ever since I fairly recently discovered women’s basketball. She had one bad year at LSU and people want to write her off. She’s averaging 18.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 6.0 assists while shooting 45.4 percent from the field, which ranks her as one of the best guards in women’s college basketball at least when it comes to offense, though she remains questionable on defense. That’s something that she can continue to work on. She’s one of the most exciting players to watch on offense, especially her midrange game, and she emerged as the best offensive player on her team in the Olympics playing alongside all stars like Rhyne Howard. But all that people remember is her one bad season at LSU, smh.

Requirements stated are the last WNBA collective bargaining agreement that restricted players in the USA to be 22 while allowing players outside the USA to be drafted at 19. New CBA in negotiation right now could change the rules to allow players within USA to be drafted sooner. Potentially, this year's sophomore and junior classes could be suddenly eligible if CBA were agreed upon before this year's draft. That sudden of a change might be a bit jarring to the college women's game given that we are talking about multiple sophomores and juniors exiting their teams with no advance warning to their coaches and teammates to be first and second round draft picks instead. I think there are some legal issues with the allowed age differences and that the new CBA needs to be consistent each year in having domestic and international players eligible at the same ages but I think it should delay lowering USA age requirement (so raise the international one for a year) and keep going with more league expansion plans. This gives everyone time to prepare for the change and because I think the league needs more roster spots before it lets in a flood of players with 2 or less years of college playing experience -- but just as in the men's game, there are some female players who may be ready to enter the league sooner than the average player.
@sethtenrec
@sethtenrec 10 күн бұрын
Can you imagine Watkins and Hidalgo in this draft!
@OriginalJohnDoeFakersBeware
@OriginalJohnDoeFakersBeware 10 күн бұрын
@@sethtenrecJuJu would go first, pushing every current potential draftee down one pick. Hidalgo would go high pushing down a lot of picks in the first round (there are only 12 first round picks). In addition to them imagine adding Audi Crooks, Madison Booker, and Sarah Strong among potential others to the draft board. If I understand the draft rules (as you have stated them) both Betts and Flau'jae can declare for the draft this year if the draft rules stay the same and if they renounce any further college eligibility because both will be 22 before 2025 is over.
@DavisSportsReport
@DavisSportsReport 10 күн бұрын
I didn't hear about that, but yes, that would be WILD, and I don't think the older players in the WNBA would appreciate it.
@OriginalJohnDoeFakersBeware
@OriginalJohnDoeFakersBeware 10 күн бұрын
@DavisSportsReport A very good point. It would push out some current players into early retirement which is another reason why the CBA is more likely to have a raise in the age international players can be drafted than it is to lower the age for USA players, at least for this first year of the new CBA. But the league will be adding a second expansion team next year and another after that (and another after that?) and may want to lower the draft eligibility age next year or the year after that. Yes, there is talent waiting overseas too but if the American audience is interested in the current college players it is familiar with, that's the reality. Team owners' legit perspective is the league has to prioritize profitability. That's why it exists. It's private business and entertainment to turn profit and it does not guarantee anyone a long-term career or any career at all.

The game has evolved, stop the cap. Aneesah is short, no vertical to speak of and plays PF in college. At next level her opposing PF could be Aja, Stewie, Napheesa, Nneka, Allysa Thomas, Natasha Howard, or Angel. May have to guard a Satou or Taleah Cooper, Rhyne Howard or Bonner. AM is hella player at college level. But unless she can step out and hit consistent jumpers, its a no-go at the next level.
