Vols will never get their 3pt percentage up cuz they simply want to create havoc. If you go back and watch the game, you'll agree that TN's inside game was almost non-existent...they either chucked up shots from distance hoping for a rebound and thus catching the defense in disarray OR luckily making a three-pointer so they could set their full-court press. In fact, the TN coach in the post-game press conference even said the Vols hope to shoot TWENTY more shots per game than their opponent. Given this objective they can't afford to consistently milk the shot clock and expect to outshoot their opponents by 20. Again, the only way you do this is forcing a lot of turnovers or rebounding off volume shots...even if they're not decent looks at the basket.

I was at the game v Iowa. A community college team could have beaten us in the first half. Iowa was just TERRIBLE in the first half. Maryland is a fine team but no one should conclude they are dominant by beating us on that horrible first half. Maryland got seriously shut down in the second half especially in the paint.

Gotta disagree. Maryland honestly looks legit. But they haven't played a top 10 team yet. Given that Maryland will play both USC and UCLA let's see how they perform. If they beat both teams...they have a strong case to be number one overall.
