People saying US soccer is improving by watching this couldn’t be more wrong. Yeah a lot of these players are good and this game was good but in the international stage these players wouldn’t stand a chance. A lot of players that are the same age or younger are already pros in other countries. College soccer is slowing down the development of US soccer in my opinion.

It's bullshit. All political. The mls academies are all pay to play. Our only good players come from Europe academies except for yedlin. We would be way better if we actually investedcin academy players. And college is just as bad. All they care about is your grades. You could be ronaldo or messi but if you don't have straight A's then you won't get to go.

the main problem is the defense. It really looks off place for every goal. The best example is the second goal of gerogetown. The first thing you learn (the 101 rulebook) when you play football as a kid in the streets is -> "Everybody has someone to cover !!". Four players at least have not been covered by the defenders when the second goal for georgetown was scored.

@PONYBOYonline
@PONYBOYonline 3 жыл бұрын
@@Savvce yes really....because at the international level, players at this age are much much more skilled. It’s a well known issue how far behind the US is in soccer. Not because the country can’t produce talent, but because the whole development/talent system is flawed and wastes good athletes.

@@PONYBOYonline yes but these players aren’t professionals. They’re not aspiring to become professionals. Most of these guys are simply college athletes. Besides, America is producing great players. Alphonso Davies, Weston McKennie, Giovanni Reyna, Tim Weah, Tyler Adams, Etc are just some names of guys made in mls.
@PONYBOYonline
@PONYBOYonline 3 жыл бұрын
@@Savvce To assume the goals and aspirations of these players is extremely naive. You're effectively saying that D1 soccer is pretty much a club sport and isn't to be taken seriously compared to other D1 sports in the US that put athletes on the doorsteps of being successful in the big leagues. The fact that D1 soccer in the US pretty much equates to low tier talent across the globe speaks for itself.

@@kennäaii That's because during the 2018 cycle USSF relied too much on aging vets who were past their prime or average MLS players, most of who were the last relics of the old system where we still relied mainly on former college players. The current generation is the first that has primarily relied on players who have bypassed college entirely (e.g. Weston McKennie, Gio Reyna, Chris Richards, Christian Pulisic, Josh Sargent). The only 2 players in contention for the starting XI going forward who played in college are Zack Steffen and Daryl Dike (who only played there 1 year). They want to wait on players to “mature” like in the NFL but if you would set up a good foundation for academies they wouldn’t have to wait an extra 4 years and then be “drafted” nobody in Europe cares for college soccer and they start the players off young so that why they produce much better players as well

Not to mention that unlike those other sports, college soccer does not feature the best young American players in the sport, as they are all in MLS or Europe playing professionally already (with the lone exception of Daryl Dike [UVA #9], who is currently thriving at Barnsley currently and is potentially fetching 7-figure transfer offers by multiple Premier League teams).

This was very hard to watch, both goalkeepers are absolutely garbage. Congratulations to Georgetown, but this was hard to watch. 😂

The US doesn’t develop their players well. We have some of the most athletic people in the world but we need more European coaches and trainers if we want to compete

Dike is without question the most overrated college soccer player in history, he can’t control the ball or dribble, he’s only known for his size, image if he was 5’7 with his play making abilities, he’d be destroyed
