The 1500-meter final at the 2012 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, was called the closest finish in NCAA championship meet history - since the NCAA adopted Automatic Timing in 1976. Indiana's Andrew Bayer and BYU's Miles Batty both lunged across the finish line - with Bayer winning the the 1500m race with a time of 3:43.82 - .01 faster than Batty.
