Now knowing what all of us Maroon Faithfuls have had to endure the last two seasons, the 8th inning of this game versus the Cavaliers just may be THE GREATEST inning in Mississippi State Baseball history. Until the Freshman from Brandon [Kellum Clark] went yard to cut the lead in half, we [STATE] had been unable to nab a hit the entire game [Tip of the cap to Griff McGarry's pitching effort]. That was the greatest thing to ever experience. I can’t really explain what being in that stands was like. I was in the outfield, which was way more energetic than the infield crowd that the cam showed and mic picked up. 7 1/3 innings with no hits, long pitching innings with cold rain, but the crowd stayed. The fans stayed trying to influence some momentum, and Kamren James makes an insane grab falling in the dugout. State fans erupt, but the bats don’t follow the inning after. The inning after that though, we get a walk, finally something, and everyone erupts over a walk. Then, BAM! EVERYONE ERUPTS, after having nothing to cheer for for a long time, I got beer in my eye from the people above me, my Dad was the happiest I have ever seen him, it was crazy. Then everyone remains standing, rain stops, Hatcher gets to first on a hit he should have gotten to 2nd on, and crowd keeps erupting. Then, Rowdey hits what should have been a triple if Hatcher had any clue how baserunning worked, and we still erupt but we are kinda mad at what happened. Then we start chanting so much that we force a switch, we continue chanting and then Tanner Allen goes BAM! And it was the biggest explosion of excitement I have ever seen. What an amazing experience to have with my father

@@Thegeneralms1 Oh yeah, that was crazy too when we beat UA. We were actually in Memphis and were going to head to Omaha if we got in the Championship in 2018, when we almost beat Oregon State by walks to advance to the championship. Anyways, I understand Hatcher not going was the decision of the third base coach which was a dumb decision but I also understand not forcing it when you have Tanner coming to the plate. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to continue the run in Omaha due to my Dad’s work, but it was great to be there. Hail State!

@@Thegeneralms1 That really would have been the greatest college baseball run ever. So many upsets and last minute combacks, and we almost had a last minute comeback against OSU. After our failures to finish the run in 2013, 2018, and 2019, I think this might be the year. Coach just needs to make sure to not take the win for granted and make the necessary adjustments.

Rule #1 Don't talk to the pitcher when he has a no hitter going. . Violate the rule and the other team will go yard...guaranteed
@francisdashwood17603 жыл бұрын
Ok, is that actually true? I think it has much more to do with the odds being so low of actually pitching a no-no . In fact, there are many more cases of ''blown'' no-hitters, than actual no-hitters. It's likely that in most cases of ''blown'' no-hitters, the superstitious rule of ''don't talk to the pitcher'' was in play, so ''the rule''' didn't actually do any good.
@libertybaptistchurch-frisc49323 жыл бұрын
@@francisdashwood1760 Yes. That is an unwritten rule of baseball. Deep in a game, you should leave the pitcher alone, especially when he is pitching a gem.
@francisdashwood17603 жыл бұрын
@@libertybaptistchurch-frisc4932 Of course, I know that. My point is, does it actually do any good, because there are many more blown no-hitters than actual no-hitters.

@@francisdashwood1760 The general idea is to let the pitcher keep his concentration. Also, as someone who still plays, you don't want to be the one who breaks the rule and then has to face the pitcher if the other team gets a hit.

Shitty for Griff, but I do like how he stood on the mound and gave the ball to his reliever. A lot of other guys would have handed the ball to their skip and walk off with their head down. Gotta play the game right, and respect it even when things don’t go your way.

I dunno if you are being ironic, but I am going to treat it like you aren’t. These are both two of the most influential and recognizable collegiate baseball universities. You under a rock? I am going to assume you are talking about State since they won, in which, Mississippi State college baseball is in large part the reason why college baseball plays on ESPN. ESPN began televising college baseball by showing MSU baseball games, because they had Will Clark, Rafael Palmeiro, Bobby Thigpen, and Jeff Brantley. We were in the NCAA championship in 2013, and went to semifinals in 2018, and were also here in 2019. Either you are a salty Ole Miss fan or you live under a rock. @davidely70323 жыл бұрын
You'd think a "movement towards second" would involve a turning of the hips to second, at least a step towards second (I'd prefer three or more) , and a crossing of the 1b line. Here the hips turned ... towards 1b. The feet stayed behind the 1b line. If someone expects every immediate walk back to first to be interpreted as a movement to second they'll need to as the Dread Pirate Robertsmight say, "get used to disappointment. "
@mikebeasley64473 жыл бұрын
WISHFUL THINKING. YOU MUST BE A VIRGINIIA FAN MELLO!!!!!!!!! WHEN THE RUNNER TURNED HE NEVER CROSSED THE FOUL LINE TOWARDS SECOND & NEVER EVEN MADE A SECOND STEP TOWARDS SECOND BASE. THE UMPIRE OBVIOUSLY MADE THE RIGHT CALL. SAFE.
@davidely70323 жыл бұрын
Funny, this 'movement towards second' resulted in the runner actually moving farther away from second. I guess it's not the feet or the body that constitute a move towards second. It's a move towards second if, as you turn your head back to first, your eyes look at second.
