While that is true, the delta between Cookman and other programs isn't as big as it used to be. A&T had a great sound during this battle and a good song selection. Cookman sounds better but in this case it's like comparing Whitney Houston to Anita Baker. Whitney is superior on the musical front but Anita isn't far off and gives you more soul. So when Cookman see schools like A&T, Tenn. State, Norfolk, etc. Sure Cookman will sound better but the opposing band will have a better selection and still have a quality sound.

My theory is that bethune didnt really work on big ballin alot in the bandroom this year and they expected the older members to hold it down but when they played it the new members were fucking up the dance routine and the tempo went with that. Good job to both bands, but BCU reminds me of OH States band....big, very clean (Northern Style of playing), and boring as all hell. Might be me or the speakers I’m using, but A&T sounds like they’re projecting more sound with a smaller unit, but not clean sound. Almost as if the brass was blowing harder than The Longhorns chances of winning the BCS or the Cowboys chances of being Super Bowl champs. When BCU came back towards then end, the brass sounded heavenly.....I’d love to play for either one, but I’d jump to play with the Aggies.

A&T got this and I knew this from the jump. Cookman sounds great as usual but the playbook always kill them. Was that tempo issues I heard in Big Ballin? This program could benefit from some innovation. If Cookman stayed true to Mr. Wells core principles but recreate themselves a little they would be the top hbcu in my opinion. On another note A&T has been on a huge come up. The song selection was great. When it comes to musicianship the delta between them and Cookman has closed a lot. I love both programs but A&T was better on the field and stands

And I don't know about on the field. Cookman took the W on that one not even being biased. But 5th, yeah I'll give it At&T. They did sound good too. Understand that our band directors strongly believes in preparing for field shows. That's how we've gotten invited to so many places. Not because our 5th quarter performances. I know it's not ideal in the HBCU band world, but that's how our program is. That's how Mr.Wells Carrys it and it's not a bad thing depending on how you choose to look at it. It really depends on what people like. One thing I will say is that at this point no band can match our power and how musically inclined we are. Nevertheless I must say I am proud of At&T. This is the best I've heard them sound in a while. Keep it up.

I didn't even need to listen to more than the first 4 measures of bcu playing to realize that ncat had this in the bag. Even though both had A LOT they could have done better in. Song selection and arrangement is what won it for ncat. One band was boring and sounded tired whole the other would be rocking if they'd just not over blow and just attack at the same timel. Ncat for the win lol.
