I don't think you will lose marks for using GC. As some of the questions will require you to work it out as they might have variables inside the equation and can't use GC for it

I have a question for Q1, cii ( 11:31 ) , a number to the power of 0.5 is sqrt, right? which means the sqrt can be positive or negative. does this mean that if the sqrt of P was negative, and was multiplied by -2, x would be positive? Thank you for the video.

its a quadratic there must be 2 soulutions as there is a +- sign. it cant be negative as you cannot have a sqrt of a negative number! hope that makes sense

The discriminant doesn't have to be positive and can be (>= 0), but you can simplify it to (> 0) since the maximum turnover is not an integer and only natural numbers are valid. The discriminant can't be negative because taking the square root of negative numbers gives you imaginary numbers. The square roots of the discriminant must be an integer for d to be rational, so the discriminant itself must be a perfect square.

The question says write P and R using integer exponents. 1.5 is not an integer. You could write it as 256 * P^3 > R^2 instead.

for Q3cii, i get why the discriminant cant be negative but why cant it be equal to zero? is it because 187/12 isn't an integer? and even if it was an integer, does the question necessarily have to have 2 roots (days)?
