"Touch" was from their NCT 2018 album Empathy, their very first project with all NCT members (18 boys at the time). This era shook everyone because Dream and 127 basically switched concepts, with Dream coming out with "Go" which was pretty rebellious and loud while "Touch" from 127 was them being soft, both very different from each of their usual styles. Iced out wrists means they're wearing watches with diamonds on them. So bright they can barely see the time. The whole "Regular" was about them flexing their money. come on guys, I'm not even a native speaker and I knew exactly what they meant. Lmao don't take it the wrong way, it happens. I get confused about expressions in my own language too sometimes.

"Regular (Eng Ver)" uses a lot of AAVE (african american vernacular english) and slang terms so some stuff went over your heads lol "iced out" means to have jewelery and diamonds. Their wrists are iced out and they can't tell the time meaning they've got bracelets and watches studded with so many diamonds that they can't read the time on it. It's to flex lmao the whole song is about flexing. There's a Korean version and WayV debuted with the Chinese version a few months after this! What's interesting is that all 3 versions lyrics tell a different story. The english and korean version come from the 127 album Regular-Irregular which parallels the songs. The korean version talks about their real reality of working hard and trying to reach the top while the english version talks about their dream reality where they've already gotten to the top and are enjoying their success. The chinese version talks about them having even gotten even higher in success but never wanting to give up. "Touch" was such a fun and refreshing concept switch up, it's so fun and catchy. It's from the NCT 2018 "Empathy" album which had multiple songs from U, 127 and Dream on it. Definitely Taeil, Winwin, and Yuta's eras! One of my favorite songs of theirs.

@@multipotato1978 AAVE is basically a “black people accent” that has become popular over the past years. One of the most popular phrases that I’ve seen idols use is the “what’s up man” in that deep, accented voice. Using AAVE when your not black is like using a stereotypical Asian accent when your not Asian, its very rude is kinda seen as stereotyping that AAVE is the way that all black people speak. However, it’s become super popular to use AAVE, so it’s hard to discern what’s offensive and what’s not.I don’t speak for all black people, but most would say that using AAVE is offensive. I’m sorry if that was super long :)

@@lexos4340 that’s okay, i learn english by myself so I relied a lot from youtube video and listen to a lot of accent and sometimes not realizing that i pick some accent, since i just know about this i’m become curious and don’t want to make anyone offended so i love when people want to tell me like this..my mom is black indonesian and my father is korean, so half of my family got discriminated a lot by locals that called us “negro” whis is kinda similar to n word and it’s kinda annoying since i know how it feels then i want to know a lot…btw thank you for explaining that to me,I really appreciate it❣️❣️

@@multipotato1978 It also depends where you grew up it’s just like any other accent or way of speaking or slang that is used. If you’re in an area where thats used and you pick up that accent then it’s just like a regular accent you pick up anywhere else it starts to become offensive when you’re using it and referring it to as anything like some people will say that’s just how people talk on the internet when that’s not true. Especially if someone were to say something offensive about the speech and then use it at the same time. It really just depends on the situation

@@multipotato1978 It’s more offensive depending on how you’re using it exactly. As others have said it’s like any other accent and is also considered it’s own language with its own rules. If you use it with the intent to replicate what you assume stereotypical black people sound like or to adopt an attitude that you don’t usually have then yeah it can be considered offensive. I can’t speak for all black people of course, but I personally do find it offensive if used that way. Honestly, if the song wasn’t so good and i didn’t know that black people worked on regular I would consider it a little offensive for 127 to be singing it this way lol basically I think there’s no harm in learning about it and educating yourself on the dialect but to avoid using it often.

diamonds are often referred to as ice. So iced out means covered in diamonds. That's why they make reference to freezing and stuff.

Ice is referring to the slang term for diamonds, so I think what they are say is that they have so many diamonds on their wrists (diamond bracelets, watches, etc.) or their watch is covered in so many diamonds that they can barely see the time. The diamonds sparkle so brilliantly, and there are so many of them, that they are blinded by the shine. "Ice out" used in this way means "diamonds covering" -- "out" meaning taking up all the space/covering every inch/blocking out, etc. all the room on their wrists. They don't make the world "go," as in physically move. They are saying, "We make the world go," as in "We run the world." (They are the driving force that influences everything and makes it all function -- or "go." They have all the power and influence.)

Now that you have heard the English version of NCT-127's "Regular," if you haven't already, you should also check out the Korean version (The MV is slightly different from the English version because the lyrics are different, so the story they are telling is different) and WayV's "Regular" Mandarin version. And once you have done that, you should then look up the lyrics to all 3. If you look up the English translation of the lyrics for the Korean and Mandarin versions and compare them to the English version you will see that even though it's the same beat and the same title, the lyrics are different for all 3 songs. The tiger isn't real, it's CGI. They did a pretty good job of making it look real, but if you look closely you will see it's computer generated. Like everything NCT does, it all has to do with some aspect of a dream. It is all things that people would dream are possible when they have all the fame and fortune in the world. I think it's supposed to be like they are characters within a crazy dream world. For "Regular" Jongwoo has officially debuted as a member of NCT-127 so now there are 10 members in NCT-127. Fun fact: WinWin is the only member who is in all 3 versions of "Regular" because he is a member of both NCT-127 and WayV. If you look up the lyrics for the Korean version you will discover that the lyrics for the English version of "Regular" is almost opposite of what they are talking about in the Korean version. That's why the album is called Regular Irregular. The English version is what I would describe as the cocky version of the song and it hits on the aesthetic of what appeals more to an American audience. The English version talks about being famous and having lots of money and still not being satisfied until they possess all the riches and fame. "Regular" is supposed to be NCT-127's U.S. debut so that is why they made an English version. However, the Korean version is what I would call the humble version of the song. The Korean lyrics talk about how they are constantly working hard and are never satisfied with the end result and how they hope to have the success that they always dream of, etc. -- which is what appeals more to a Korean audience. The Chinese version of the song also has different lyrics. The MV for WayV's version of "Regular" is about dominating in the technology realm and that is why in WayV's MV you see them as stock traders in the stock market and at one point they are literally inside a computer, etc. It's all about dominating in the business world. "Regular" was technically WayV's debut song as well. You should really take the time to see what makes the 3 versions so different, besides the fact that they are in 3 different languages. :D It's really interesting to see how 3 songs can be created in 3 different languages using the same beat and feel, and yet have completely different messages. It just goes to show how diverse the music industry is and yet still so similar. :D Another reason why WayV's MV is so different from the Korean and English version is because they are the Chinese sub-unit and at that time they couldn't have anything that might connect them to NCT or make it look like they might be working with their Korean company if they want to promote in China. Because of the political issues between Korea and China, they had to appear as if they were a Chinese group and are separate from anything to do with SM in order for the Chinese government to allow them to appear on Chinese programs, etc. and to promote themselves and their album in the country.

Yes, 2018 was the year we said NCT-127 and NCT-Dream decided to trade concepts. NCT-127 came out with a cute concept with "Touch" and NCT-Dream was more hype and edgy with their song "We Go Up," which was the complete opposite of the groups' previous concepts and styles. :D "Touch" came out the year that Mark "graduated" from NCT-Dream. (And you thought NCT-127 was mostly just a hip-hop, high energy pop group. LOL, now you see that they can be soft and cute too. :D) If you want to see the choreography for "Touch" better you will have to check out their performance MV version.

Regular is straight up flex. Iced out both my wrist is to decorate wrist with diamonds. Also FYI. the adlib "braaah!" was actually Mark Lee and not Taeyong. Although Taeyong did it in the latter part when you watch the live performance. Also, i personally think Yuta nailed Regular. Center Yuta is so fire
