Btw the story of the firetruck MV, they are actually protecting the girl. The girl in the MV is a person growing up. In the second half of the mv they show what they are protecting her from. The sandcastle was on fire and the guy in the club was going to do something etc. Also firemen in Korea are called for so many reasons to help citizens.

It's been years and I'm STILL thinking about the Turn Back Time MV plot, I think it's such an interesting set up for their concept. Other people might know more than me but: WayV is trapped in this prison. They have powers linked to the cell they are in. I think they have to turn back time to a point before they took the pills - you can see the pills (blue and yellow) on the table. I don’t actually know for sure what they do but I remember theories that one gets rid of their power, but they remember the past - but the other pill also erases the past. So maybe Hendery and Lucas took the pill that erases their memories, but Ten and Winwin took one that minimises their own power but they still have memories. The other members and their pills aren't clear. Ten is a time traveler. His room is full of cameras to monitor his activity and make sure he doesn't time travel. He manages to go back in time and steals the key card to unlock the cells, but he cannot freely move around and Xiaojun helps everyone escape. Xiaojun's power is less clear, it’s possible he is invisible or able to move through objects? He wakes up in the boiler room because whoever is running the prison did not know his power. He escapes his cell but the heat (?) makes him pass out and he wakes up from the alarm Ten sets off. Yangyang can see/know the future, and that’s what the drawings are about. He knows WayV will escape. Kun can move objects with his mind (he moves the mirror), maybe he also hears voices, maybe the other members - but this maybe affects his mind. He smiles when he hears the members and knows the plan to escape soon. Lucas is an angel(?) and/or can fly with his wings, but they were removed and he dreams of flying again. Don’t think he knows the plan to escape. Hendery has water-based powers. He can breathe underwater, which is useful for the prison island surrounded by water. It seems like he took the pill and lost his memories, but he is aware something is wrong with his memories and might remember that he took a pill? I remember some people believe he can sense changes in time (from a different video) and he knows when Ten begins to time travel and waits to escape. Winwin is like a super strong member, or some people say a ‘demon’ - he still has his memories and misses his strength, so he can't break the chains. I think he gets given a lot of pills to continue to suppress his strength. Not confirmed in any way but this is what I see said a lot, would love someone to clarify if they know more though!

I think nct127 is probably the most well known amongst international and Korean fans cos they've been around the longest and had the most promotions (out of 127, dream and wayv), but it is hard to compare because for example wayv debuted the latest and have less international and Korean fans I think but obviously they have their niche and have a much larger Chinese fan base and r most well known in China Let's just say the main unit is nct u lol, the rotational group w all members haha

You don't actually need to know which unit is more popular. We rarely judge them by each of their unit's popularity. It just depends on your own preference. But, I guess if u want to react to the more popular unit and leave the rest of the other units is fine.

As previously mentioned, NCT's concept is based on dreams and dreaming. So that is what I think you see being depicted in the "Fire Truck" MV --- It all has to do with a dream/fairytale. I kind of see it like Wendy from Peter Pan. The NCT members are like Peter who never want to grow up and always want to stay young, and they are always around to protect Wendy. The girl in the MV is "Wendy". You see her as she grows up and goes through life and the NCT members are like guardian angels protecting her from all the "fires" (bad things) in her life. When you see them spray the water this is during a moment in "Wendy's" life where something bad or unpleasant is happening and the NCT members are trying to cleanse and fix the situation. The squirt guns represent how they are fixing a small thing -- Wendy is building her castle out of sand, i.e. an unrealistic dream without a solid foundation. As she gets older, it becomes fire hoses because more power is needed to solve bigger problems that take greater force to fix. But like Wendy, the girl realizes she has no choice but to grow up and go through those adult milestones. In the end, you see her as an old woman and the girl you now see in the yard is "Wendy's" granddaughter. As controllers of dreams, NCT helps to change the narrative in "Wendy's" and her family's lives. Sobangcha is the Korean word for fire truck. "Fire Truck" came out in July 2016 and it is NCT-127's debut -- when they debuted they only had 7 members.The members of NCT who were in the"Fire Truck" MV are Taeyong, Mark and Jaehyun (who all also debuted as part of NCT-U with "The 7th Sense" in April 2016), along with new additions Taeil, Yuta, Winwin and Haechan. WinWin is trained in traditional Chinese dance, so he was the one you saw do the flip in "Fire Truck's" routine.

"Firetruck" has a story for the MV. In a nutshell, it shows the red-headed girl growing up, and throughout her life, NCT are putting out literal and figurative fires in her life that she never recognized until later. They are like her guardian angels. When she is old and dies, they go on to protect her grandchild. "Chain" is actually in Japanese. I love Taeyong's fast rap in that song, and it's more impressive since it's not in his native language. All of NCT is experimental, but NCT 127 is the most experimental of all and sometimes gets called "noise music," but that's why they are my personal favorite subunit. I would be a good idea to check out some guides. Another fun way to get to know members would be to react to some fan made compilations or some of their variety content (super fun). I really hope you also go back to check out dance practices! I like the "Firetruck" dance practice even better than the song. lol

Fun fact: WayV stands for We Are Your Vision in English, hence why they say "the face of Vision" in the lyrics of "Turn Back Time." Since the creation of SuperM, where they are now taking members from each of SM's most popular groups and creating an Avengers supergroup, I think that was SM's first indication that from now on we need to pay attention, because all of its groups' MVs are somehow connected. Therefore, if the SuperM Avengers are coming together to help EXO stop the Red Force, I think the members who are part of SuperM are the liaisons who are helping to connect all the groups -- EXO, Taemin/SHINee, NCT and WayV -- together. For example, right after SuperM released their debut "Jopping" MV, WayV came out with "Moonwalk" and I think "Moonwalk" is pretty much a continuation of "Jopping's" storyline, and now I think "Turn Back Time" and "Kick Back" are also part of that story. With NCT's dream concept, they could very easily connect to EXO's other world and other dimension theories. I even see parts of the story in "Turn Back Time" that could be connected to SuperM's MV for "One (Monster & Infinity)." When Lucas is suspended in the air in the MV for "One (Monster & Infinity)," I see similarities to the fact that he is supposed to be a fallen angel in "Turn Back TIme" who is also floating in the air. Lucas doesn't have a shirt on because he has just had his wings ripped off or removed, so he is shirtless because he is recovering from whatever happened to him. You see the scars on Lucas' back because his wings have been torn off. I also wonder if WayV actually has the power to turn back time, similar to Tao's superpower in EXO -- will it be their job to help fix the problems in EXO's and SuperM's storyline by turning back time? ("5, 4, 3, 2,1" -- they are counting down and turning back time. The end move in the choreography was designed to show time had abruptly been stopped and the momentum of their movements caused their body to tremble like that, etc.) And, if you notice, Ten and Lucas have a pivotal role in the storyline in "Turn Back Time." I think this might be because they are members of SuperM and they are coming to gather the other WayV members to bring them into the fight. Maybe in "Turn Back Time" the WayV members are cut up and injured because they have been involved in the battle as they help SuperM take down the Red Force. As you can see, even though WayV is the Chinese sub-unit of NCT, they often do English songs. With all the political issues between China and Korea, and the fact that the pandemic made it difficult for them to promote in China, I think this is one reason why SM decided to give them an English song like "Miracle." "Miracle" is a track video not an official MV, so it's a shorter version of the song. With the last 2 NCT albums SM has created track videos for all songs on NCT's album, which is like a preview of the album. That is why the "Miracle" video is shorter than a regular MV. There are normally 7 members in WayV -- Kun, Ten, Xiaojun, Hendrey, YangYang, WinWin and Lucas. However, there are only 5 members who participated in "Miracle" because Lucas is on hiatus due to some controversies and WinWin is busy with solo activates, promoting and filming in China.

Well, talking about popularity, it's NCT 127 and NCT Dream who are currently in the lead, especially NCT127 since they're the ones who had the most international promotions (like for example in Japan, the song "Chain" you just heard is completely in Japanese). Regarding WayV, they are not Kpop, they are Cpop because that is the unit directed towards the Chinese market, WayV is the best known Cpop group internationally (thanks to the fact that they are part of NCT) but speaking specifically of China they are still not so big there like other Cpop groups, but you know, they're working on it. Now with NCTU, they are not a fixed unit, any member can be in this unit, so to talk about their popularity is quite difficult. Thank you for this reaction ♥️

Yes...NCT 127 from the first time include Winwin, but when WAYV subunit was debut, Winwin postponed from 127 and being member of China subunit WAYV until now. I think who's really like NCT will be love all subunit 😊

Yuta, the Japanese member in NCT/NCT 127, is about to be in a movie! Also, a few NCT members have played roles in dramas so far - Doyoung and Jaehyun (both NCT/NCT 127) recently. Jaehyun is in one right now called Dear. M as a romantic lead, which has caused total chaos among NCTzens/czennies ahaha. Doyoung was in one recently and has another coming out soon. WinWin (NCT/WayV) is in a vampire one soon, and Jaemin (NCT/NCT Dream) was in a web series a while ago. Edit: Xiaojun was also in a series, last year! He's so cute in it too ahhh

NCT's Japanese tracks -- such as "Chain" -- are always super dynamic with a sound and beat you never expect, but if you learn to embrace their extreme differentness, they are always full of fire, whether it's the beat of the song or the amazingly creative choreography. Some of NCT-127's other Japanese songs you should check out are "Wakey Wakey" and "Gimme Gimme," if you haven't already. At this point there are 9 members in NCT-127 -- Taeyong, Taeil, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Haechan, Johnny, Mark, WinWin and Yuta. You would think that being the only Japanese member of the group that Yuta would get a lot more lines and be featured a lot more in their Japanese songs, but unfortunately that's still not the case.

NCT's whole group concept is based on dreams, so in "Make a Wish" (Birthday Song)" they talk about making a wish like on your birthday because wishes are often things you dream of happening. Everything NCT does is about dreams, dreaming or being in a dream state. Therefore, that is the story you will see being repeated and referenced in all of their MVs across all of their sub-units. And on top of all that, it's also part of SM's SM Culture Universe storyline, so it's connected to all of SM's other groups' MVs and stories, including EXO's and SuperM's storylines. NCT-U was NCT's first sub-unit which debuted in April 2016. NCT-U is made up of pretty much all the members, they just add and subtract members from all the other sub-units depending on the concept for the song. NCT-U songs can have anywhere from all the members or only 1 or 2 members. The U stands for United, but I also like to think of it as Universal because of the way the group never has a fixed number of members. This sub-unit is designed to be fluid, which means the group is constantly changing and rearranging its members. So, don't expect to have any of these members in other NCT-U songs.There is no telling how many members or even who will be included in any of NCT-U's songs. (For example, In the sub-unit's debut "The 7th Sense" MV, there were only 5 members, however, only 3 of the members who were in "The 7th Sense" are in "Make a Wish.") As you saw, "Make A Wish (Birthday song)" has 7 members -- Taeyong (NCT's leader, main rapper, main dancer), Doyoung (main vocal) and Jaehyun (main vocal and visual), who are members of NCT-127; Lucas (rapper and visual) and Xiaojun (main vocal), who are members of WayV; Jaemin (lead rapper), who is a member of NCT-Dream; and Shotaro (main dancer) -- a Japanese member -- who has not been made a member of a fixed group yet. As you may know, SM Entertainment is known for having some of the best dancers and singers in the industry. That is just a fact about the type of people SM selects to be a part of its company. You can't be an SM artist without having amazing singing and dance skills. So even the company's rappers are unbelievable singers and dancers. That is why the company has gained the reputation as the vocal powerhouse of the industry, who also happens to have some of the industry's top dancers. When it comes to SM, this is just the skill level we have come to expect. SM is an expert at finding and developing the best singers and dancers in Kpop. SM is the company that founded the Kpop industry with the very first Kpop idol group H.O.T. (Highfive Of Teenager) back in 1996, and they are now one of the largest and most influential entertainment companies in Korea and around the world. The company spares not expense when it comes to their videos, stages or concerts, etc. because they know that whatever they spend they will get it back 10 fold in profits. SM is one of the most innovative and trendsetting companies in Korea. Here is some more information about how NCT works. I hope this might make it a little easier to understand. NCT is different than any other Kpop group in the industry. NCT (which stands for Neo Culture Technology) currently has 23 members. And the group right now as a whole has 4 sub-units. The way NCT works is it's a group with an infinite number of members. (There are an unknown number of trainees who are still waiting to debut who could potentially become members of NCT.) As SM Entertainment's male trainees graduate from the training program and SM decides they are ready to debut, they become a member of NCT and they debut as part of one of NCT's sub-units. (They just added 2 new members -- Sungchan and Shotaro -- at the end of 2020, who are expected to eventually become members of a new sub-unit.) NCT is a group that is constantly changing and rearranging its members and sound and we never know quite what to expect from them. With an infinite number of members and a concept that allows the members to rotate between sub-units, changing, adding and subtracting members depending on the concept and style of the song, you should never expect the same thing from them. You are better off always expecting something new, that somehow, also ends up sounding very much like NCT. LOL NCT is a very international group. The members as a whole currently represent 9 different countries and they speak 8 different languages. For example, there are 10 native Korean members (Taeyong, Doyoung, Taeil, Haechan, Jaehyun, Jeno, Jaemin, Jisung, Jungwoo and SungChan), Mark is Korean-Canadian, Johnny is Korean-American, Yuta and Shotaro are Japanese, Ten is Thai, Lucas is Chinese-Thai from Hong Kong, YangYang is Taiwanese but he grew up in Germany, Hendery is Chinese from Macau (China) and 5 mainland Chinese members (WinWin, Kun, Xiaojun, Renjun and Chenle). The second sub-unit is NCT-127 which began in July 2016. NCT-127 currently has 9 or 10 members. This group is more of a fixed unit so the members don't change quite as much. The 127 in this unit's name stands for the longitude coordinates of Seoul, South Korea, on a map of the world. So it's 127's job to represent Seoul -- the birthplace of Kpop -- around the world. NCT-Dream is NCT's third sub-unit, which began in August 2016 and it is made up of the 7 youngest members of the group. All the Dream member's are currently between the ages of 20 and 22 years old (they were 14-17 when they debuted.) SM originally created NCT-Dream with the idea that if they had a trainee that they felt was ready to debut even though they were really young, they would start out as a member of NCT-Dream. They were the cute babies of the group who were learning the ropes and honing their skills because they are young, but they are also some of the most talented because they debuted way sooner than a lot of trainees. The way NCT-Dream originally was designed to work was that the members were part of the group until they turn 19 and become an adult. SM's original plan was that when the members turned 19 they were supposed to graduate from the group and they were no longer considered a member of NCT-Dream. Mark (the leader/captain of Dream) "graduated" from NCT-Dream in 2018, and Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin and RenJun we thought would be graduating in 2019 and form a new NCT sub-unit or be add to a sub-unit that already existed. (Which would have left NCT-Dream with only 2 members, with the idea that new trainees would probably debut sometime in 2020 and become members of NCT-Dream.) However, SM announced at the beginning of 2020 that they decided to make NCT-Dream a permanent group and suspend the whole "graduation" concept, including putting Mark back in the group. The fourth sub-unit is WayV which debuted at the beginning of 2019. They are NCT's Chinese sub-unit who produces songs in Mandarin and promotes in China. There are currently 7 members in this sub-unit. All the members of WayV have Chinese heritage, but like Ten who is Thai, they aren't all native Chinese. The reason why WayV doesn't have NCT in their name like the other sub-units is because, at the time of their debut, the conflict between the Korean and Chinese government was at its peak and China wasn't allowing anyone associated directly with a Korean company to do business in its country. Because of this conflict SM had to find/create a Chinese company -- Label V -- that was willing to represent NCT's Chinese sub-unit, but would also allow SM to have control over the group's concept and activities. Most of the members of WayV had already debuted originally as members of NCT-U + 3 new members who debuted specifically with WayV because they were Chinese. (Kun, the leader of WayV, debuted as a member of NCT's special project group NCT-2018.) NCT is SM's attempt at taking over the music industry around the world. SM's goal is to eventually have NCT sub-units representing every major city in every country in the world. Some day they hope to, for example, take several Japanese members and create a Japanese sub-unit, or put together members from Thailand and create a Thai sub-unit, etc. It has always been SM's plan to have world domination. And to that point, right now NCT-127 is the group that SM is using to try and get their foothold in the U.S. music market with songs like "Regular" and "Highway to Heaven" and collaborations with American artists such as Jason Derulo, as well as a U.S. concert tour and promotional tours with the American media, etc. So, this year is NCT's 6th anniversary, but debut dates are different for any number of members because it all depends on when they were added to the group. And many of the members of NCT actually became recognized by fans even before debut because they were part of SM's pre-debut group project called SMRookies, so SM did activities with several of the members before they debuted. Taeyong (the leader of NCT and a member of NCT-U and NCT-127), Mark (a member of all of NCT's first 3 sub-units -- NCT-U, NCT-127 and NCT-Dream) and Ten and Lucas (members of NCT-U and WayV) are also members of the very first Kpop supergroup, SuperM, which is an SM group consisting of members from EXO, SHINee, NCT and WayV.

So they are popular for different reasons. If you have a particular rubric in mind, like sales, views, money (from more than album sales etc), then that info is out there :)

I think, it's about our preference in music. For example, for me i love wayv song more than other unit and perhaps other think that 127 or dream is better. It's because we have different taste in music. For your information, wayv has many fanboy than other unit. And you will know the reason when you react more of wayv song. Most Kpop idols are also actors. And a large part of the entertainment industry is made up of Idols who are actors and actors who are singers. There are a few idols who have done big budget movies. For example, Choi Siwon, a member of Super Junior, which is a senior group under SM Entertainment, has starred in a big budget international movie produced in Hollywood called Dragon Blade, which also starred Jackie Chan, John Cusack and Adrien Brody, among many other famous actors. Henry from Super Junior-M was one of the main characters in the Hollywood movie A Dog's Journey with Dennis Quaid. D.O. from EXO is also a top actor in Korea and he has starred in a lot of movies and TV shows including the big budget international movie Swing Kids. Kris Wu, a former member of EXO, starred in XXX: Return of Xander Cage with Vin Diesel, etc. The members of NCT are fairly new/young in the industry so some of the members are just starting to get into acting, but there are a few of them who have had roles in K-dramas and movies and have been actors in musicals. And if you get to know the members of EXO better you will see that they all are actors. A few of the members of GOT7 are also actors, etc. At least one member of almost every Kpop group is an actor who is well known for their roles in TV shows, movies and/or stage productions/musicals. When not working on their latest comeback -- which usually only lasts for about 2 weeks, 3 or 4 times a year -- Idols are required to have side projects, which means that most of them are also TV and movie actors and musical and stage actors. They are also brand ambassadors and models, radio DJs, cast members and hosts of variety shows, etc. Believe me, being a singer and making MVs is not the only thing they are doing. Music is actually a pretty small part of most idols careers. Many spend more time in other roles in the entertainment industry than they do working with their groups. It's often their acting roles that helps sell albums and gets them recognized by the mainstream public.

Miracle is only a Track Video - not a music video. The song is longer than what you heard/saw. The Track Videos are like a special treat for us, without making a full MV. Miracle is a song by WayV's group, within a full NCT album called 'Universe' - there are other fixed unit songs in that album, and then different combos. It sounds more complicated than it is to start off, but once you know who the members are and what their fixed unit is, the differences feel very simple to catch.

NCT 127 is the main group, NCT DREAM is their more younger members, WayV is their chinese members and NCT U is when they combine members from the other 3 sub units at random.

@@yvets6268 Well in the beginning 127 was the main group and DREAM was supposed to be for the youngest and have them graduate up, but they ditched that idea and WayV wasn't a unit until 2019. Before that the members were distributed between the other units. NCT U is a main group but always a mix of members you never know who or how many will be on a track. If they're all considered main groups now I didn't know that's only recently.
