I think people who watched NCT Nation experienced this album much differently from those who haven't - hearing the songs live first (with the choreo and the performance aspect) and then listening to the album gives you a much different perspective.

Am i the only one who enjoyed the album????? The interlude, pado, baggy jeans, call d and that's not fair are really good. Baggy jeans for me it's a hit, been on replay. I also enjoy the mv to be completely honest. Some songs are a skip but the ones that aren't are super good for me

But i do agree that the styling was at time a bit meh. And the mv could have been better but it's not that bad either? It felt a bit rushed and uninspired. I have to say that in general except for perfume the last mvs for nct Haven't been hitting much. Ayyo is such a song but the mv is so much not it, favourite also felt a bit badly made compared with how much impactful the mv could have been. 2baddies was actually good. Broken melodies too. But overall not as good as during kick it, punch eras and previous ones.

We like the same songs in the album safe to say tht me might have the same kind of music taste lol. And i agree with the mv and styling. It reminds me back in their early day with tht kind of styling. Yes, and the mv is super fun for me thought ot is look like low budget. And i agree with ay yo and fav mv too. They couldve been better. It seems like for sm when the group have been active for a long time now they wont put mich effort and money into it anymore since they already have big fanbase. Remember when they first debuted with nct 2018 we got lot of mvs and they even went to ukraine to film. I wish they would still put so much effort to them in marketing also. It seems like they barely promoted the grouppp 😭😭😭

Dont worry. I am enjoyingg baggy jeans, pado and thats not fair a little bit too much too. Like have been on repeat since it was released. Though not all the songs might be my fav but i do enjoy few of the tracks. And i really like baggy jeans with the choreo. Cant wait to see more during their promotion.

The only fun part (besides choreo) was the jeans dancing and they milked everything out of it, it would've been more impactful if it was a couple of seconds

Super by Seventeen can also look cheap for example (although it's not, just 200 dancers is insane), but I haven't seen people complain too much about it because it is done tastefully

I fall in love with the song when I watched their performance in NCT Nation. Ten definitely was having so much fun. He smiled a lot it makes the songs sound so fun. When he said "they all wanna move how I move (6:27) he was literally flaunting in the stage like, Ten, preach!

To be honest but majority of this album consisted of rap and I'm not complaining caused they shined and did there thing but where the vocal line at?? Like-😭😭 honestly Oasis is my favorite out of all the songs and its on loop🛐✨

I was already stanning them since t7s era and I'm probably bias but the critics is nothing new. I love everything about Baggy Jeans from the music, the lyrics, the outfits, their makeup, the venue and the editing. Just as iconic as t7s.. way ahead of it's time. If you just as IN as I am with NCT music I highly recommend you all to listen to the full album. It's crazily good 👍

@@Itsloceng its probably not that. its just how nct have changed from a very vocal present group to a boisterous one that has started to lack freshness that they used to have and cohesiveness that made them stand out. they're still vocally amazing, but their songs just haven't been giving that besides dojaejung.

i watched nct nation concert, and the baggy jeans performance was really great. I was surprised because the people around me cheering so loudly for baggy jeans perfmnce. The live perfomnce is 100% better than the mv 😮

I watched them performing all these songs live during NCT NATION through beyond live. The choreo to baggy jeans was really good. Ten looks very sassy and playful somehow but when I watch the MV, I'm not really a fan of it. Also don't like the overly accessorised outfit as well. Call D's performance was very entertaining as well.

I think Baggy Jeans is a great song, very catchy and the choreography is really good, and apparently a lot of people liked it, which makes me happy. The album in my opinion is good :) Personally my favorites are Ay-Yo, Empathy, Perfume, Universe

pado has been my new obsession recently, esp HAECHAN performing the song omg. The chorus just hits! I definitely hear u with baggy jeans, I 1000% like t7s better but tbh I’ve been rlly enjoying the song and it’s performances. The line up is just sooo good and I think you’ll notice them having a lot of fun on stage when they perform, the chemistry is really there (even if it didn’t come through in the mv)

I have yet to listen to the entire album but here are my thoughts and please be reminded that this is my opinion... I have always been a huge fan of the NCT albums and how cohesive everything always felt and while I do enjoy Baggy jeans, the entirety of the album was somewhat of a let down in the sense that with the reintroduction of members that had previously worked together on such beautiful songs I had expected to feel a sense of nostalgia which I know shouldn't be expected with a group like NCT that likes to experiment. However this album felt so rushed and with what's been happening in SM recently I can't help but think that this project lacked in quality now I'm not referring to the production instead I'm referring to what this album actually means... and then I'm also thinking about how overworked the members have been feeling recently with some being in and out of hospitals, recovering from injuries. I can't help but think that this album was released in bad taste and has some how come across as inauthentic. I'm not trying to discredit the work behind it but I don't know...make sense out of my nonsense.

First of, always appreciate the honesty even when I don’t completely agree, I t’s still refreshing. This album isn’t bad but it felt very disjointed tbh and I hate that. There are several songs on the album I enjoyed, including baggy jeans, but as a body of work it unfortunately didn’t work. It was rushed, and the same thought that went into past albums is just not there. I remember thinking that NCT 2021 promotions were rushed and the album wasn’t given enough time to breath but at the end of the day the music still spoke for itself. I will say, I think watching the NCT Nation performances probably helped because they were having fun on stage, with tech difficulties and all 😅. For me personally, the real Golden Age was NCT 2020 but I still hoped to fall in love with this album and unfortunately SM 3.0 just don’t have the same passion for this group (and other older SM groups tbh) like LSM did. I feel like we’re seeing the end of an era with SM.

I love this song, choreo, just how it sounds, and their chemistry (at the concert and in recent interviews). My brain hasn’t been tickled this way by NCT’s more neo titles since literally Boss, which still holds the crown. This might actually be my fave title over Kick It, ngl. Imma be as bold as to predict that this is going to go viral , if not with the GP but within the idols themselves and k-netz. But - the MV is so bland in comparison that it pisses me off. It has high highs but low lows, especially those gray and brown outfits. They only shot this 3 weeks ago, and you can tell. SM MVs for their boy groups are so sub-par it’s not even funny.

@@Koko3op yeah it’s rushed, but I disagree with some of the parts you pointed out as highs/lows and I don’t feel the same emotions you did when it comes to them being too serious etc - imma be real some of it comes off as you just being disillusioned with SM releases in general. My fave part of the MV and song was actually the bridge, dance break, up to that final chorus.

@@areebyee With my excitement at the start I was clearly optimistic, excited and went in with an open mind AND i gave the song credit AND like it, i just didn't like the MV and that's the weird energy I'm talking about so I'm not sure where being disillusioned about releases in general is coming from? If SM keeps missing that's on them, I'm not pre judging any releases and giving them a fair judgement always.

Thank you for the honest review. Personally, I was quite happy with Baggy Jeans. I thought it was a little different, and it was nice to listen to. I did think it lacked a little bit of the flare I always look for from NCT. I never know how to describe it, but it's like the notes that tickle your brain in the best way. I guess it's like a jazz aspect? As for the MV, I didn't particularly feel anything watching it. I thought the members looked good though, especially Taeyong with his cotton candy hair, Doyoung with his long hair, and Ten with his long blonde hair. I actually really like PADO and Oasis because it takes from sub-genres that I've never heard them do before, so it was new and nice to listen to with their voices. Those three songs are the only ones I particularly liked though. I understand what you and the comments have said about how NCT's music has changed a bit. I don't feel very strongly about it, but I feel that their songs have become less timeless, or at least most of them.

They're having such a good time with a twinkle in their eyes and I feel like they're amused with how serious and sexy it looks on the surface while they're very much aware that they're really a bunch of good-natured, extremely talented goofballs. I can't say for sure but the inner conflict in SM during last year probably had sth to do with the album, with LSM's nephew and Kakao Ent (which is a broadcasting company, NOT a music company) taking over. Also, having '6' members taken out of the group, the members probably knew last year/early this year that SM would do sth like this. Also, coz of the new executives, NCT's schedule is PACKED for the 2nd half of 2023. I don't know if you know but- we had Dream ISTJ (Jul), then this NCT 2023 (Aug) + NCT Nation concerts (Aug-Sept), 127's 5th full album (Oct6), WayV 2nd full album (tentative Oct?), Dream mini album (tentative Nov?) AND 127's 'speical' album (tentative Dec?)... like basically sth every month of the 2nd half of 2023. Also some members have other solo/group activities that they have to fly everywhere to attend/film. Like they can't take a break or anything. It seemed like they didn't do much for the 1st half of 2023, but they were all preparing for the extremely packed 2nd half to release it all...

I agree the MV is disappointing, I do like the song and the choreography from when I saw it live in NCT Nation so I am exited for the promo week but the MV just shows how little SM is focusing on the concept of NCT and the quality we were used to, well it is gone. Neo's are talented as ever thought that has not changed but something in the creative department and marketing sure has changed after Resonance.

its so sad to see from someone who ults NCT how after lee sooman left, nct have had low budget + unmemorable music videos and i do understand that them becoming an older group leads to that, however, i feel like since lsm departure, the creative perspective he had for nct was so much more special. take sticker for an example, a song ahead of its time and disliked by many but still very memorable and special for nct lovers, even beautiful from nct 2021 showcased more of what nct is about than golden age. i just feel like nct dream still feels very neo but somehow feels disjointed because of the extra budget put into their work compared to nct 127 + nct u. im not sure what has lacked but i will say dojaejung perfume was amazing yet the album wasn't memorable in the slightest for me. 127's repackage: ay-yo could've had more atmosphere in the mv as it felt like a plain studio in red lighting with a couple of props placed around... idk i've just been so disappointed in how SM now handle nct because it always reminds me of how we went from sticker, kick it, superhuman to this when surely they should be advancing as time goes on?? and what about all the projects SM were planning to complete before? nct tokyo? nct hollywood? sorry if this doesn't make any sense but im just wondering where the creative perspective is now for ALL SM groups because im even seeing with aespa that their music from savage to now has still been good here and there but they set a distinguished sound for themselves WITH savage and its almost like they've strayed away from that a bit. GOT the beat was so iconic last year and i was so excited to see them back this year, but again, i was left with disappointment and an unmemorable album. the last example i will give is this new sm boy group: riize, that had a VERY underwhelming debut imo and just lack the freshness that girl groups have been giving the past couple of years. why does sm feel like their taking the direction of cash grab comebacks? and why does sm not give me that warming proud feeling anymore when i see my ult groups have a new comeback? i think the only answer is laziness.

nct is just evolving. they maybe have been coordinating with the album more freely at the moment. I just think that you dont understand nct that much. Its been a tough year for ALL sm artist especially NCT. I think we should just be thankful that they even pushed through with NCT 2023. the mv was definitely rushed because there was no fun elements and it was so bland..hopefully the performances of baggy jeans is way more fun also i had to listen to call d like 3 times before i got it so it definitely sounds better with time 😭😭 this whole album was not really my taste unfortunately, loved the reaction though!!!

Baggy Jeans did not hit for me unfortunately (especially following up her majesty, The 7th Sense) and I totally get you on the styling- looks a bit like they're playing dress-up rather than embodying a concept. I wish they'd have paid homage to 90s / 00s hip hop fashion and baggy jeans while taking a high-fashion avant-garde approach that could have brought something NEO rather than costumey.

I actually enjoyed baggy jeans. It suits their style and it was chill and laid back. The bat was much more upbeat and call D suits their past song baby dont stop. They just keep getting better. I guess NCT is more for people who like to experiment with music. And it keeps changing with time. So you cant compare it with 7th sense. The whole point of NCT is to come up with new (sometimes unconventional) music and not to be recognised by a repetitive/ common sound

If you actually listened, you would know that the biggest problem he had with baggy jeans was the mv and the vibes and styling. He mentioned that he liked the production and was liking the song but the mv was throwing him off. Many have also mentioned how the performance stage was a lot better because they (the members) enjoyed themselves more and had more fun with it.

I think I agree with you about the vid and the styling in some scenes like i hate when it leans costumey. I don't love love the MV, like it's taking me out. Also I think the member are super tired spread thin/ burnt out. In NCT nation they brought it but I feel like it is showing. I also feel like NCT 2023 felt rushed and the album feels a little bit like that. I feel like the members are trying but they are tired and then with Taeil's accident it all feels a bit idk, like the members are over it but trying their best. I don't know if that is coming through or my perception of how tired and stressed the members are is colouring my ability to enjoy the album to the fullest

Two Baddies was the first NCT 127 album that I didn't like completely, I really enjoyed the whole Golden Age, when I started listening to NCT I used to watch a lot of reaction videos, now I don't, because it's a comeback I decided to watch several and nothing has changed too much, there are always those who ask NCT not to be NCT and that's when I remembered why I don't watch this kind of videos anymore. Anyway it's your channel and your personal taste but I just want to say that even if they stay true to their sound or try other things they are still for me the most interesting to listen to in kpop. I don't want to sound like a certain delusional fandom that says their faves are "not kpop" because nct is kpop but they don't fit in and people keep saying: why do they do that in a song when that shouldn't be done in a song, I personally lost interest in that discussion, or maybe not since I'm commenting here, I just listen to their music and enjoy it.

Love the honesty in your review! Always delighted to see people express their opinions and there are some elements of your review that I do agree with. SM seem to take in such talented and bright artist that have an extraordinary amount of potential but group wise, SM seems to cause them to lose momentum. Groups are supposed to be elevated with each comeback but SM is notorious for almost neglecting and forgetting about their senior groups and I feel as though overtime the music quality and effort decreases. There would be one hit and then the next it’s just well meh?? Not solely in terms of music quality but also in terms of the creative aspect. It’s gotten to the point where I’m more excited to see what SM artist do outside of their groups for example…. i ult taeyong and I am impatiently waiting for more of his solo works whether it be with SM or not because he’s so dynamic and versatile and he excites me as an artist. The same goes with ten and many other nct members and SM artist. I personally did like baggy jeans, call d and pado but like a comment I read on here said… I feel as though album wise it’s all very disjointed and it needs more cohesion and SM need to explore much more when it comes to NCT and not keep the bloody talented folks in a box. They all have so much potential is infuriating.

you know, I appreciate diffrent opinions i like how you always honest in your reviews that is why i always seek them bc i know i won't listen to sugarcoated opinions.. but for me honestly i enjoyed the album, i enjoyed bado, the bat.. and for me that is not fair was CRAZY good the kind of sarcastic? villainous vibe was really it for me! i also enjoyed the rest of the songs. baggy jeans grew in me but i also agree with how it is supposed to be more playful but the mv and the performance didn't catch that vibe.. i would say tho, this album is a little different than other nct albums.. (actually a lot of sm production lately felt different) dare i say, it felt kind of commercial... it is not that innovative, that it give you sometimes uncomfortable feeling but feels fresh, no it is not that. but for me personally i enjoyed the songs and the different units, i would say some members rap and vocals has been improving lately and i love to see it! maybe, part of why i think u may not have enjoyed the album even tho the production was clean, is bc how overworked the members lately and it is just reflect in the whole vibe, their vocals and raps were good... but some of them lacked enthusiasm? and it just leave a bad taste i the mouth knowing this is just extra work over their supposed rest time...

Yesss I think we can sense all these things as listeners. The enthusiasm is not there. Yes innovation is definitely missing, something daring and fresh like sticker! I hope the unit albums are better and more cohesive. Tbh the album may grow on me but it started badly and I just got into a funk :(. Thanks for your comment though!

Hi!! Baggy jeans is amazing in terms of production and the members ate . I don't really like repetitive phrases in songs, but this just works as well as in other 127 songs with the same characteristics , the lyrics are fire too, the mv is not "rushed" to me, it's more like how "baggy jeans" feel when you wear them, something that flows, hiphop cuture vibes and confidence... Also... I hear you and I saw in the comments that the mv could've been "goofy" but the 7th sense unit it's not supposed to be goofy in my opinion😅... it's supposed to be cool... Idk man. That feels right to me. It's like Ay -yo in a way. Also if you read the lyrics they could be kinda "serious" expressed with a sexy metaphorical elements 😂 at least that's my yake on it... I agree with your thoughts. I love NCT, especially WayV, but I feel like they try to do "different" with the music but not with the concepts. It feels like it's more of the same thing even with more than 20 members and infinite possibilities. Is it really that hard to put together the best vocalists and give us a vocal-driven song? Or to put the rappers together so we can have a rapper singing the chorus and surprising us? I really feel like NCT 127 could easily have sung Baggy Jeans so what's the point of NCT U? To me it's a great music piece with a differential sound, variations and spirit specially at the end. It feels like a combination of nct u releases through the years, and I can even say that it quickly became one of my favorite nct u songs... At the beginning when I heard the name of the song I was like "Baggy jeans?? Really?? SM please!?" But then reading the lyrics, it seemed perfect to me😂, I like it, the "sense" of freedom and confidence the protagonist of the lyrics of 7th sense missed... Is he/she starting to open his/her eyes? Is he/she starting to set him/herself free? ... Ofc it could've been better to release a more special song I'm here for it but are you sure it takes away that this song is actually good? Anyways, this is my friendly opinion ofc, I don't want to debate too much. We love nct and that's important, let's continue supporting their projects!

The album was amazing but idk i felt like it wasn’t as great as let’s say the last albums NCT as a whole has done. Idk maybe I expected more and it’s my fault for doing that but the album was kinda “okay” compared to the previous albums, though i enjoyed it for what it is. Especially when it comes to the vocalists of the group, i kinda wanted to hear more of them. The album was more focusing on he rappers and that’s fine but this is NCT as a whole and not a lot of members shined other than the rappers. Idk the album is amazing but compared to the others it was okay. I hope they will do more activities this year and show more of the members because it’s been a while since NCT did something like this.

About 7th sensew vs baggy jeans- first, they're doing it without taeil after his accident. I'd say they're worried and sad, like is not the right mood to celebrate. And second, i think around their debut times we still could think and feel like nct was a project of the members, or at the minimum that they had some say in the matter. Now every part of their projects feels so detached of each other, at least for me. And i really really liked the song and the album, but idk, i can't feel it.

I think there’s a good amount of people who seem to be heavy into criticizing nct these days. I do understand everyone has their own opinions, but the energy of some fans towards nct lately is sooooo negative, verging on people struuuugling to find anything nice to say at all, and it seems so unwarranted. Idk. I recognize my bias, nct is my ult, and for me, overall they have only been getting better, but it genuinely seems that somehow people are letting nostalgia of what “used to be” ruin the albums we are getting now. I also think that people are letting their knowledge of what’s going on behind the scenes at SM affect how they view the music their groups put out. I understand that company changes CAN cause changes in music, but all of this still feels like nct. 2 baddies was by far my favorite nct 127 album. Golden age isn’t my fave nct year album, but I can recognize that we got some really good music out of it, and I can appreciate it for what it is. Istj is my fav dream title track, but the album as a whole was my least fav full album, but again, I can still recognize that the music is still good, it just isn’t my preference.
