taeyong and mark usually write alot. jaehyun (the one u said sung ken doll in his verse lol) wrote on one song in the recent album. taeyong has written in nct u's yestoday, baby don't stop, baby don't like it and many more. he also contributed to writing and composing superM's no manners ( fire song btw y'all should def check it out, doesn't have an mv but its live performance is one of the best) mark has also written in superM's 100 and together at home (along w taeyong) taeyong has a song that he wrote and composed called "long flight" if u wanna see how artistic freedom sounds in kpop lol

Another thing about K-Pop that is different from American music is that the idols go through intense training before they debut. They are either recruited by entertainment companies or they audition. SM was the first company to come out with this idol training system. They do vocal lessons, dance lessons, and weekly assessments. Taeyong (the rapper who is always in the middle dancing) came in with 0 experience in music. His dance coach had once said that he would never make it because he didn't know how to dance. But Taeyong worked hard and now is one of the best dancers in kpop!

You want to hear the most outstanding talents in all the Korean Entertainment Industry? Check the artists at SM Entertainment they are the vocal kings of Kpop.... they have the best of the best the creme of the cream for video recording and editing, R&B fans, they have the best R&B vocal coaches. The whole NCT is comprised of 23 members divided into separate subunits, they have the NCT Dreams which are the youngsters, followed by NCT 127, NCT-U, then WayV which are the Chinese members. For WayV I would recommend “Love Talk” as it is in English and I think you would enjoy it. Another NCT song, in this case two members Taeyong and Ten called “Stop Baby” will have you bopping. Aside from NCT SM is the home of EXO, Shinee, Super Junior, Red Vlvet, Girl Generation to name a few... they also have solo interpreters in this case I would check Taemin from Shinee. Then there are the EXO soloists like Baekhun, Chen, Suho and Kai... I could keep going but wont confuse you. see you next time, I subscribed and hope to see your channel prosper.

I'm gonna be honest with you, when it comes to kpop tittle tracks and concepts, it's a very small percentage of the mainstream artists that actually get to work on the creative part of the process. Regarding NCT, I heard that their company (SM) promotes songwritting camps in Korea where their main producers and songwritters brainstorm ideas for new music (ReacttotheK has some interesting interviews with Moonshine, Adrian McKinnon and others), I don't know if any of the guys of NCT are involved in this event, but it can be a possibility. Sometimes companies let kpop artists take some creative freedom, I heard Taeyong and Mark (the two rappers at the end of this song) have written raplines for multiple songs, but I believe most of these songs are b-sides/on the album. I guess since the standard (and budget) is sooo high, the company might not want to take the risk of having a commercial 'flop' (eventhough I think SM is one of the companies that take the most risky/frowned upon concepts and experimental sounds, they are incredibly innovative in their vision in my opinion). Also I heard the main dancers contribute a lot in the choreo portion, eventhough it is already choreographed by a third party studio, they might adapt and add new ideas while learning it. When they have independent non/commercial projects they get to shine, for example Ten and Winwin choreographed a dance for Lovely by billie eilish/khalid and it is *chef's kiss*. Anyways, despite all that I'm not taking NCT's credit since they are really talented performers, singers, dancers and professionals overall, I'm pretty sure if SM let them be more creative they'd come out with amazing title tracks.

Very true. Even though a large percent of their songs are produced by others, the producers are very open to the member's ideas and suggestions. They don't just go into the studio and sing what they hear. They share their opinions, experiment with the melodies, etc. In their own free time, some members also produce their own songs. Taeyong has a whole library of unreleased songs he has produced and written. He is basically lives in his studio and is always sharing little snippets with the fans! But I think SM is really good at what they do. Not only do they compile an album together and create a MV, their staff also has to create the photoshoots, fashion(NCT always has their own customized clothes! Its so cool!), promotional content, etc. And they are always coming out with concepts that have never been done before in the kpop industry. And creating a album is also an art in itself. Choosing which songs fit and what order to put them in to tell a story. I know Taemin and Suho were very involved in their solo albums! Anyways, I just really want to give a shoutout to not just the members, but every person involved behind the scenes!!!

@@peacelovevegankpop Thank you for complementing what I said :) Yes, you can see that each rapper/singer has a distinctive style/sound (taeyong for example is so recognizable, the way he plays with sounds is very impressive), and they definitely get to play more in the studio with the demos from what I've seen in some on the recording sessions. And I'd say that the older/more successful you are, the more SM let's their artists be themselves and be involved in the process like Taemin, Kai, Super Junior, etc.

their process reflects a lot of what kpop, and SM (their company, they're the pioneering kpop company) does. so, obviously they have a creative director, apart from music and such, so they discuss the concepts first usually. then for the song, SM does workshops where they have a bunch of producers (a lot of swedish but american too) work on a lot of tracks, these tracks sometimes are done thinking on a group but doesn't mean necessarily that they will use it... like Chewing Gum, from NCT Dream was first thought as a Red Velvet (girl group from SM) track. Same with 4 walls/View, both tracks could've ended it up as shinee-f(x) tracks... And they also buy a lot of songs from black producers, like "Ridin" by NCT Dream or Taemin's "Move", Adriann McKinnon worked on both and he's done a lot of songs for SM. They also work with korean producers, both in-house like Yoo Youngjin or Kenzie. ALL of this reflects the korean kpop-idol process, and there's korean producers really famous like Shinsadong Tiger, Poptime, Teddy Park, Yoo Youngjin, etc... SM also has artists that write and produce their own music, like Jonghyun (from Shinee) but although this is more common nowadays and we can mention a lot of idols that write their stuff -for their solos or for their groups- (LE, Soyeon, CL, GD, Hui, Daehwi, etc) it's "usually" not the norm.

They have behind the scenes of mv filming, studio recordings, and even of them learning the dances so if you are ever interested you can just look up the song you want with one of those things and it's likely to come up. They work really hard to make it look good but of course a lot of work goes into it. They have been trained for these things and have been doing it for years so at this point it's very seamless and they make it look a lot easier than it is but they still express struggles they may have and all of that so yeah. Luckily NCT is a group where the company puts subtitles on most of there videos (because its not like that for all groups, more so now than a few years back but still) so if you ever wanted to watch things like that you'd be able to understand and most of the times it has their names so thats another way to learn faces. As far as time it takes theres a lot of different teams and people that get involved so I think different things take different amounts of time and it also just depends on when a comeback is set to happen. For example Kick it was their first track after an almost year hiatus for NCT 127 so the process for that took longer because they had more time but for things like 90s love they probably had much less time to prepare. And they on average learn all their dances within like 2-4 days or so but thats probably with being in practice the entire day from like 8am to 3am. Kpop is mostly ran by companies (just like in America with labels except they are much more involved and highlighted/branded?) so some companies dont really like members help much, especially as rookies but because NCT are doing so well they have started to let members join in on the creative process and ofc im sure they run things by them. For example Taeyong writes, helps with choreo, gives opinions on how he wants his hair styled, all things like that and im sure that happens amongst all of them. A lot of them have their own talents and things they like to do/work on for themselves so naturally the members who genuinely like producing and such tend to be more involved.

Finally my favorite MV~! I started to love NCT during starting of the COVID last year, at first I love the MV because they filmed this at Kiev. I'm always love Brutalist architecture style, and Ukraine have the best architecture in that category. But then I realized, their songs are not too bad! I'm loving your NCT reactions (which is how I found your channel). It's pretty unique or at least for me it is to watch a lyricist and video producer together reacting to Kpop for the first time a few weeks ago and it gives us viewers an inside perspective on things we might not have known so it's really interesting to see your point of view and hear your thoughts. Taeyong(in this video he's the red hair rapper with the unique aggressive voice)who is the overall leader of all 22 NCT members and the main leader of NCT 127 writes a lot of songs along with all of his verses on the songs he doesn't write (same goes for Mark). Taeyong wrote songs like Mad City and Yestoday which are really personal to him and about all the bs and hate he's had to deal with and then he's written/produced songs like NCT U -Baby Don't Stop and his solo song Long Flight which are completely different, both songs I highly recommend watching sometime. Usually, with every comeback, their channel will release behind the scenes videos of them in the studio recording whatever the comeback song is (and sometimes B-sides) and videos of them making the music video with the director and crew and it shows how they filmed or did certain things and they also usually release a dance practice video because a lot of the choreography gets cut out of the music video so there is a lot of them if you want to check them out which would be really cool to watch your reaction. NCT recently added two new members and there is a video that I'm going to leave a link below of Taeyong helping one of the new members with his rapping and showing him different things he does when rapping and then they go record their parts along with Mark. It's really interesting to see how involved he is and how he does some of his raps. The video is under 10 mins and if you guys get the chance it would be awesome to see your reaction and opinion on it and their other behind-the-scenes videos which all have English subs. You can watch them of the behind-the-scenes stuffs on NCT daily and they have a whole creative team behind them and a whole song writing team as well. SM has writing camps where they get tons of songwriters from all over the world to come together for a week or two and just sit and write as much as They can.

The Entertainment Company (SM Ent.) chooses the directors - they use different ones but have their favourites, so some groups may work with the same director/team multiple times. So mv's are outsourced but the Company obviously has a hand in the production and final product.

He pretty much came up with everything for his song and used his own money. This MV is directed by Rigend Films. Kai is also in EXO and used his own money for his MV too. SM has many different producers, writers, directors, etc working for them .. From what I know, some of producers that have worked for SM's songs were picked at a music/producer camp (forgot the exact Camp name) .. basically, bunch of producers will gather and showcase their music and SM will listen to their songs .. if they like it, usually SM will pick it up ..

in terms of how long they spend practising we don't know their usual daily schedules however Kai (a member of exo) is in the same company as NCT and he says when possible he likes to practise dancing for 8 hours a day and when he's busy he will practise dancing for around 6 hours a day. It is quite possible NCT have similar schedules due to them being under the same label.

I love your reactions!! Welcome to Kpop.!! That was me about 2 years ago. Found kpop as an adult too. I am a fan of NCT but my first kpop band was Exo and I actually become part of their fan club as well. EXO is in the same agency as NCT. You should check out EXO too. Both groups have dance practice videos on their channels. All of the artists from SM Entertainment are amazing!! Literally every single one can sing, rap and dance.

I'm not entirely sure about how the song-making process is for SM Ent. (NCT's label), but I do know that sometimes they will buy demos from Western musicians and rewrite the lyrics into Korean, and they also have contracts with producers, many of whom aren't Korean, who will then work closely with SM. They also tend to have multiple songwriters and producers working on the same song, and the NCT members themselves will sometimes add their input or write their own lyrics.
