If you un-clip the inner heater hose and take off the 10mm nut holding on the hard line it will give you A LOT more wiggle room along with taking out the mounting bracket from the OG header completely it comes out like butter.

Did your check engine light go on after putting on the headers ?

Yeah it did. There is a work around with extending one of the O2 sensors back on the mid pipe but I just ignored it and checked the codes every so often

Apparently the goodwin midpipe has the o2 sensors situated in a way where it will not throw codes.

Yeah but I think you have to get an 02 sensor extension if I’m not mistaken

Not if you go with the Max Torque header. The Max Power header comes with the extension

Is everything else on the exhaust stock except for the headers? Have the option of getting my hands on goodwin racing headers,dont want it too loud,would you say its huge difference, hard to tell sometimes on video thanks

I did have a cat back exhaust. I think if you only did the header it would make a slight difference but in no way would it be way to loud.

This sounds pretty nice. What is your axleback setup? I recently installed an HKS Legamax Premium and it sounds good, but I'm kind of wanting a little more bass earlier in the rev range (right now it's mostly over 3000 rpm). It's also still breaking in, so we'll see how it is in another 300-400 miles. However, if it isn't loud enough I'm not sure if I should try to sell the HKS and get a GoodWin Superstreet twin tip or sell my factory axle back and use that to buy a header to make it a little louder.

Noise wise in the videos, it doesn't seem bad, but what's it like driving it day to day now? I have a 2018 RF Club and really want to bring my HP up to that 180 mark, but that requires complete exhaust change plus a tune and I'm not wanting it to be loud. I know it's going to be louder but a little is OK.

I would say it wasn’t bad at all. Never bothered me with the set up I had.

i have to replace the exhaust manifold gasket. do you think i could unbolt it and slid the old one off to put the new gasket on. don't really want to take the header out.

I’m not sure, with the bolts coming out might be right, but I think if you undo motor mount to give your self some room by lifting engine shouldn’t be horrible.

Did you get a low catalist code by taking the factory header with the pre cat off? If yes, did you do a tune to fix it?

I did get a code due to cat missing, I just ignored it to be honest.

No I didn’t, but I would assume a 5-10 whp increase with a lot earlier of a tq curve. Power seemed to come in earlier and felt super nice.

@@RandomFootageFromRon Hey I'm all finished up everything looks great besides an intermittent rattling sound I hear at idle. All the bolts are tightened, any ideas? I see on a forum people had a heat shield rattling but I don't have one touching anything.

@@thevenomousowl I would just go through everything you touched, gasket might not have sealed correctly of heat shield might of not tightened square. Tapping the head shield would instantly tell you if it’s it. Should be solid when you tap.

It’s actually hotter with the stock exhaust manifold because the cat is at work burning up the gas. No heat shield is needed because it’s actually less heat without the cat. Someone confirmed it on the Miata forums

That’s interesting, I also chose to go with the ceramic coated header which is suppose to help with air flow and heat disbursement. So who knows.

I just ignored it, I think there is a O2 extension you can add that helps but it didn’t bother me.

I’m about to order the max torque headers too. But I was advised not to run with the GWR axle-back due to it’s loudness. Which exhaust muffler are running? Would you say this setup is obnoxiously loud?

I had the invidia q300 midpipe and axle back and did not think it was loud. I would think as long as you have a muffler you will be ok. I enjoyed the sound of the car.

@@RandomFootageFromRon perfect! Yeah I’m running a GWR axle-back that is considered maybe their 2nd most aggressive muffler but it does come with a mixing baffle so I can adjust the sound if needed. Perfect this is super helpful! Thanks a lot man! Cars looking clean with the new ducktail!

There is a letter out there from mazda to the dealers stating that they won’t void warranty up to a STR class. So full exhaust, intake, suspension and even a tune technically won’t void. But if they can prove it’s what cause the issue then they can.

ND1 RF the carbon trunk was around 600, but I got a good deal as I preordered it. And I have an aftermarket midpipe that pushes rear 02 back, so hoping no engine light. I also have to avoid tune to keep warranty.

Was a lot better sounding in person, the rasp seems a lot worse over video. Got a lot of compliments in person, as well as never any noise complaints. Had a nice throaty sound that wasn’t to annoying.
