The chairman should desist from misleading the public. The NDIC is one of the babies of the CBN. The first two MDs of the corporation were from the CBN. The primary responsibility of examining all aspects of the banks including the deposits rests on the CBN. This explains why CBN sets the Prudential ratios. If CBN has just examined a bank and NDIC is moving into that same bank to examine it, what time would be left for the bank to attend to their main businesses. I think Mr. Chairman should learn from the previous MDs and Chairmen of NDIC before castigating the CBN. Secondly, on the career progression of NDIC staff, just as the Governor and the Deputy Governors the CBN are political appointees so also are the offices of the executive directors and the Managing Director of NDIC. Mr. new Chairman should tread softly and desist from castigating CBN who gave birth to NDIC.
