I just heard this tonight in Tampa with the Florida Symphony Orchestra! LOVE this composition!!

John Adam's compositions are a needed balm to the gravitas of so much contemporary music. It's all about the simple pleasures of consonance and rhythm. Feel good music.

Exactly! More about Timbre, pitch, and intensity. It reflects the somewhat frenetic nature of modern life and is Classical's answer to Jazz!

Captivating, melodic, and cacophonous in its rhythmic strides. It's Adam's brand of romantic minimalism. It fascinates the ear.

John Adams is one of the greatest American composers of our time , i have heard really a few pieces of him, and is It really is captivating, this piece is totally minimalist but unlike Philip Glass, who tends to be monotonous and sometimes boring, Adams's work is completely different because he takes minimalism to its maximum expression in colors, nuances, development and orchestral variations. ,etc. Thanks to NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester and its conductor Alan Gilbert

I'm trying to be open minded about modern classical, and I can hear it's a complex piece. It just not my cup of tea. I will give his other works a listen. I did not like the clips, I like to imagine the scenes as I listen.

We are aware, contemporary music is discussed. But it's nice to present and play all kinds of eras in our repertoire. Thanks for listening!

@@NDRKlassik I was not in any way suggesting this genre of music should make way for any other. I see the benefits in having a variety of classical music performed often for all to enjoy. I did like the piece it's just it took a project of discovery for me to find this video. Many comments show a love for this composer and style. I can appriciate this city piece without it being something I would personally persue frequently. Thanks for sharing the video and for replying to my comment.
