I grew up at the dragstrip. My dad & his buddy Eddie built BB/GD's from scratch, chassis & everything. They even built their own trailers. I remember push starting it, watching it run, and hanging around the shop counting the trophies they'd won. Well over 100 before I lost count. Better back then IMO.

It's so nice to watch a guy adjusting his carbs, or using a timing light in the pits on these monsters instead of three guys staring at a lab top while they tune a motor with a bunch of bent tubing and hair dryers no disrespect but this is the drag racing I remember, when it was fun! Thank you for sharing this video!

I grew up w/racing like this. My dad & his best friend built BB/GD's from scratch, chassis, engines, even their own trailers to tow it on. Cast Iron 392 Hemi w/a 6-71 blower. They were running low 7's at around 180mph in the 1/4mi when they quit racing in the early 70's.

I have a 192 inch, alcohol injected; 412 inch SBC; 2 speed powerglide; Front Engine Dragster. Runs high 7's, low 8's. I run it at Nostalgia events. I enjoy it every time I go. Lotta people like the FED's.

Wow, what's that hopped up red semi-convertible "roadster" at 3:29? I can't even tell where they've stuffed the engine in that thing! I bet it's really lightweight... Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I seem to recall seeing quite a few of those cars cruising around near golf courses.

Nostalgia in name only. I was around in the early days and these cars look very little like the old time race cars, even the AA/FD's don't look correct, just modern design dragsters with the engines up front!

Hi bud, the red #J318 dual engine rail, is that a GM small block in front and GM big block at the rear? If so that must have been quite an engineering feat getting them to run together!! Unless I miss my guess, EVERYTHING is different about them,, unless the guys custom manufactured the cranks to keep the stroke and torque the same. Anyway, this is also a super video and we thank you for sharing it. Please keep it up!! We luv 'em and for sure are sharing your channel with our friends!!

John Z Thanks again for all the kind comments, not sure about the dual engine rail setup but that thing was crazy as were most of the cars at this event!
@Smokey-889 жыл бұрын
+John Z They have the same firing order, ture alignment of the cranks is all that's needed, regardless of how long the connecting rods are, rpm is rpm, could play hell on main bearings, didn't see any power adders also, which is a big deal on a combination like this.

Or however long it lasts just good to see drag racing still exist!!? I've been crewing and owning funny cars since 72! 1/8 of a mile versus quarter mile racing!? Well it's simple! Fans love the quarter mile and car owners and tracks when it comes to match racing and points meats do the 8th!! When you're spending money out of your pocket for $5 a second operation! That's early days numbers! Yes you do 8th mile been doing it since the early seventies! Us 30 Maple Grove Lebanon valley! Exedra we're all mostly 8th of a mile in the seventies! Sorry to break your heart but jungle Jim especially did more 1/8 stuff than quarter! Especially during the week!!

AND SPEAKING OF E.T., who shot this vid and thought that the trap times weren't important to catch in the vid frame? Geez-Louise ...
