Fantastic Sir. We, Tamilnadu people, are proud to have such a highly educated person as a Finance Minister of our state TN, who has studied finance & economics in depth at US. He can debate with anybody in this country in his area. He has much thorough knowledge in his portfolio & he comes from such a highly talented, educated family background. Had he not entered in politics after his father's demise, he would have gone & served World Bank / some other World's leading banks. We, TN people are fortunate to have him as our FM. In this short interview, he was spontaneously giving very correct technical & fitting answers to Nidhi Razdhan's queries, & she was also struggling to put questions for his appropriate & fitting replies with statistical datas instantly. We are all in TN can proudly say that, he is the No 1 FM in our entire nation... Hats off to him.

He has not only rreduced TN deficit , also controlled the inflation of the state below the National level and also increased the state GDP above National level,all of which certified by CAG for FY 20-21. There are two serious problems in the Central Government’s fuel policy as far as States are concerned. First, the Centre collects revenues from fuel by imposing ‘cess’ which is not shared with the States. Accordingly, the states lose out on revenues but bear the brunt of inflation through higher costs of goods and services. Since they do not have the power to resort to unlimited fiscal deficit, the quantity of goods and services which they can buy is reduced thereby affecting the poor. Second, as the Minister rightly pointed out, the uncoordinated changes in the fuel taxes. Since the base for fuel taxation includes the cess levied by the Centre, as cess changes, the state revenue flows are also affected creating volatility and uncertainty in State finance. Therefore, it is important that Centre should coordinate with the States as they do in the case of GST.

As TN FM starts off, thanks to the program for hosting him! It allows people in India to witness what is happening in a State that has been doing well consistently for over a hundred years. At this point, it is only right for other States to begin to see what has been happening in Tamil Nadu and draw lessons from there. It will not be easy to replicate this in other States as it would mean involving the entire society of that State to follow a hundred years of formula of Equity and Equality. The people of the State of Tamil Nadu have always been a generous lot. A number of successful initiatives like the Transplant Program, Comprehensive Insurance Schemes etc have been successfully implemented in other States with the transfer of knowledge by those who implemented them in Tamil Nadu.
