we used to use that sand till my sister started getting allergic reactions from it. it apparently contains a form of formaldehyde. not enough to be dangerous normally unless you are sensitive. since then we have tried a bunch of litters and the best one we have found that was all natural was sustainably yours. it is not as efficient and definitely makes much bigger clumps but it is much safer on your health over the long term. for this macchien the fine version would be best. we use the litter robot 3. one thing i will say for the arm and hammer is that it definitely controls smell better. nothing can beat it for odor control.

Thank you so much for letting me know. I’ll try your sand next. That sounds way better.

For anybody being tempted because of the cheaper price than LR4, be sure your cat is not a digger, otherwise this open design will be useless as your cat will throw all the litter outside the box and it will defeat the purpose of an automatic litter if you have to manage it everyday. I really like the Neakasa design but if they can't prevent litter from being thrown away it might be a bad design. You never know what kind of cat you will have in future and if you have to change to another model because you have a digger this saved money become wasted. Interpret this message not as a praise for the LR4 but as a wish Neakasa will find a way to make the design resistant to digger. I for sure will be tempted if they succeed. There is a reason why Whisker didn't change their design for such a long time. You only need one bad behaving cat to render such product useless. Another important thing if Neakasa want to be a quality product, include replacement parts! I've not seen anything on the store like motor, main board or sensor.
