What I would like to know is why August went on a 2 year search for Emma and didn't try to contact her after she got out of jail. Maybe he planned on giving Emma the money after she go out of jail, but then ran into some problems and used it himself. Maybe he did just blow it all on himself because he knew that Henry would lead her Storybroke; thought that if she had money she'd keep him and never fulfill her destiny. I also think that he and Neil met a few times after this encounter, and he knew that August didn't give her the money or contact Emma after her 11 months.

That's what my theory is. And besides, if you rewatch the end of Lacey when Neal brings Henry back to MM's apartment, they talk about August for a few lines and that answers a little bit.

i literally JUST thought of this. but in 'selfness, brave, and true' didn't he wake up on an exotic island or something like that? i can't remember the name.... now it's just a hunch, but maybe August just spent the money on himself ..... which would also go completely against the Pinocchio qualities. i don't know just a guess. I'm sure we'll find out, if August ever gets memory back
