Never in a million years can anyone convince me that Neal did not have unfinished business. Even if he did settle things with Emma, there is still the unresolved issues with Rumple and Henry. And Henry went to Neal's room at Granny's which means Henry thought Neal would be in the underworld too. They got robbed of a proper goodbye as did Rumple and Neal.

Well, as much as I wished for him to still be in the Underworld, there also were reasons he wasn't: his dear father did find him after decades, his son learned who he truly was, the woman of his life knows he loves her, etc. It's rather Henry and Gold who still have to live with their own grief today. It's THEIR unfinished business, not Neal's.

Neal tried to do right by Emma and Henry though and by all accounts, he probably had maybe 99% of his unfinished business done until he met Henry. But he did die to try to save him. But here's an interesting angle to the "unfinished business." Maybe he WAS in Limbo and knew Emma probably by now moved on and fell in love with Hook. Especially when Hook got there. They had a right old chat, and he gave his blessing because his unfinished business was to ensure that Emma and Henry were happy. So the moment he said "I'm not here" that meant he was going to get out of Limbo and head to probably (hopefully) Elysium before they arrive because he knows that they've sort of moved on while mourning/missing him still. He WANTS them happy and if that's Hook, then he will allow it and feel his business is finally finished. At least, that's what I think is happening because Neal is dressed in Limbo clothes like a majority of the other people there. I kind of would like to think people from Elysium would be dress a bit nicer.

ehh. I don't think he did. I mean think about it. What other issues does he have? Yeah when the show first started he ddi have a heap load of crap that he was dealing with. Like he had massive daddy issues. But that mainly stemmed from the fact that his dad was a coward and ditched out on him. But then watching his father sacrifice himself for him honestly fixed most of those issues. Now I think the writers screwed up hardcore with us not seeing Neal connect with rumple. But honestly. This scene shows how put together Neal is. And and it took a lot of development for it to happen. but I think Neal is totally fine. he went through a lot of crap. but everything he did. he meant well. like even ditching Emma was purely done so she could have a happy life

unfinished business is about acceptance of who you are, not having ever bough in your life tied up. Bae/Neal has accepted himself and has reached the final stage of greaf, and if you think about it the whole show is about the 5 stages of greaf, how to work through and over come addition and what family is and what it truly means. Neal / Bae had many unfinished bough that needed to he tighted but he did not allow pain, greaf, and anger to weigh him down, he trully accepted himself and where he was. That is why he is not in the underworld.

@@lauraschoenborn3544that’s not where it was heading. After they got back from Neverland, and Hook told Neal he would back off “for now,” Neal asked Emma out. Emma stood him up. She didn’t want to start that again. She was pressured/pushed by her parents but still wasn’t happy about it. Then there was a crisis that distracted all of them (shadow killing the Blue Fairy I believe).. But even in that scene outside of Granny’s, you see she’s jealous of the potential of Tink and Hook being together. She already had moved on from Neal and was starting to realize her feelings for Hook at that point. Neal was her first love, Hook was her True Love. The creators have even said it was always supposed to be Hook and Emma.

(Or she chose Tallahassee) and 1 week later, Neal finds out that Emma is wanted for stealing watches in the city of Phoenix and advises him to go to the police and she agrees to go to the police for love of neal and he decides of retrieve the watches . and a month later (While than Emma is in prison) Neal recovers the watches And meet August And he speaks to him of emma and Neal Decides to go see the chief of fireman And to tell emma that he died saving a family from a fire,And decides to give a letter of love for emma to auguste And give her if she discovers the truth about magic or if the curse is broken,And when emma leaves prison she goes to see the fire chief and suspects that neal is always alive.

They were the fairytale in the land without magic. So symbolic and symmetrical with her coming from pure goodness and him coming from pure evil and that resulting in Henry. Granted I stopped watching in S4, but I really didn't see the value of Hook beyond aesthetic and him being so recognizable. I would have rather they develop Swanfire to bring that fairytale love full circle and maybe the show would have had a more clear tragectory before getting so convoluted especially with how incestuos they got. ( _I am aware that no actual incest happened, but they were real close to that line which isn't a good sign_ )

CS, I don't actually hate Hook, but I do think his character's importance to the series was disproportionate to his screentime. And putting him with Emma was such a bad move because they weren't really connected. The narrative had to force them together instead of doing it naturally.

This makes my heart hurt. Don’t get me wrong, I like Emma and hook but I loved Neil. Such a great character and he loved Emma no matter what. He went to never land for her(and Henry), he was able to make sure she was able to get her memories back even though he was linked to rumple and then he comes to her to at least try to keep her from going to the underworld even though he knew it was probably pointless. That’s love. I know hook loves Emma but he’ll never love her the way Neil did. You can tell how hard it is for him to leave her when he kisses her on the head tells her he’ll always love her. I’m not crying, you’re crying.

I responded to another post earlier. Knowing who Neal really was, he was lying. He probably WAS in Limbo. After all, he was dressed in similar clothes they wear there. However, part of me think that his unfinished business was to see Emma & Henry be happy and move on with their lives. So the knowledge of Emma coming to save Hook probably sealed his unfinished business. So him saying "I'm not there, I'm not in Limbo" means that he won't be there when they arrive. He knows how it is there, so he tries to warn her and test her determination to save Hook because that means she's moved on. So when she tells him that she has to save Hook, he smiles and says "I figured." Which means he can move on, hopefully to Elysium (the good place). And even if he didn't (which I highly doubt he deserved that place), he tried to reassure her that he is in a place where "he's happy."

You know what I don't understand? Neal trying to keep Emma away from saving Hook. He knows his death broke her and he probably knows that Hook's death was the same since she said "If I knew I could, I would've come for you too". And he doesn't even sound jealous. Or afraid that Emma is in danger. His only concern is that it would be hard for her to return to the living world, not that she might die. At first I thought this scene would be something of "I know our time was short, but now you got a second chance and that's okay with me. Go save your pirate, I know you will do it because you're too stubborn to give up". I think that would've also explained a bit why Neal has no unfinished business, because Emma was able to find a new love.

No unfinished business? Really? Neal never fully repaired regrets with his father or Henry. Sure, he might have restored love between him and Rumple, but we all know that them two still had catching up to do after all of the years Rumple missed. He also never got to say goodbye to Henry. He also said it himself that he still loved Emma and knew that she was going to fight with Zelena and other villains. I don’t care how Neal died, he should have gone to the underworld.

Neal/Baelfire was one of my favorite characters, and I will always firmly ship Swanfire! I actually really enjoy Hook, but him and Emma as a couple always felt both wrong and icky to me. And poor Bae got completely screwed over by the OUAT universe! In the end, no one truly seemed to give a $h!+ about him. And even the ones that did in the beginning, (Rumple, Henry, Emma, Belle, the Charmings, etc.) seemed to forget about him awfully quickly after he died...out of sight, out of mind! Poor guy...Neal deserves better than these people.

Rumple, Henry, and Emma did not forget about him. Rumple was trying to find Neal in the underworld when he discovered Belle was pregnant with Gideon he also almost let the black fairy rid of everyone cause she promised to resurrect Neal he didn’t cause he knew Neal wouldn’t want that and killed the black fairy instead. And Henry was trying to find Neal as well and talked about him rather frequently the rest of the series for different reasons. Just missing him, Henry struggled with Hooks presence in his life because he missed Neal.

Man first it was Gram, then Neal and then Hook. Gram and Emma had good chemistry and honestly was sad to know that he was killed before he could help Emma and the Storybrooke peeps. He really cared for her and even was able to love but it just couldn’t be. Then Neal and Emma’s relationship was true a lot of history and emotions and memories that never faded nor change with time. You could tell they truly honestly loved each other like they were soulmates destined fated partners. Henry is proof of their love for eachother and it was really sad that once their relationship began it ended just as fast because of his death. He didn’t deserved that either, he finally had a family he always wanted and have a happy ending but it wasn’t meant to be. Not only did he leave the love of his life but also the blossoming relationship of his son and his father. Broke all of our hearts. Then theirs hook, he and Emma have steamy connection, a lot of chemistry a lot of sexual tension and it proven that they eventually loved each other but they have flaws as well. I haven’t seen that last season but Hook became possessive and needy and because of his old ways started to do bad and create huge terrible lies. Though I know he loves Emma and Emma loves him despite his flaws it’s never going to become true if they’re not honest and keep secrets from another. It could just become toxic. But honestly I really feel bad for Emma she been through shit and back and has had the people she actually started to care and love killed and taken away it especially hurts more because we know what she’s been through with all the curses and have her family taken and her orphaned and abandoned. She truly deserves all the happiness and a happily ever after. 💖

For those of you still coming around here, I loved Emma and Neal, and I thought they would end up together too, but in the end, it wasn't the whole captain swan ship that sank the swanfire ship, it was just that Neal's actor felt it was time to go, time to go to help the story move forward, cause he knew it was coming for a while. The writers weren't pushing any ship, they were just trying to tell the story the way they wanted to, in a way they thought would feel real and emotional

Another moment I loved about was when Neal was back, in 5x12 it was so heartbreaking to see specially to Emma too, because when she had lost him she was so heartbroken and she didn’t want to lose Killian the same way she had lost Neal, When she saw Neal again she remembered how much she still missed him and that still love him she never stopped The way they look at each other says everything he will always love her, he loved her his whole life until the day he died and she still loves him too and always will When Emma looks at Neal in season 5x12 it was a dream she had, (she was about to going down to hell to save Killian,) When she looked into Neal’s eyes all she said with her eyes was: I STILL LOVE YOU NEAL, I’M STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU, I NEVER STOPPED LOVING YOU, DO YOU STILL LOVE ME TOO, and he responded it back to her by looking into her eyes too and said: OFF COURSE, I STILL LOVE YOU TOO EMMA, AND I’M STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU TOO, I NEVER STOPPED LOVING YOU EITHER 😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭😭

You know what the problem is? People who prefers Captain Swan are specially teenagers who likes to see a handsome guy with a girl. They are only able to see the beauty, they are not able to feel it, and just seeing the beauty is not always enough for people like us. It lacks sensibility for these people, it lacks emotion. And fan service gets in the way taking advantage of this. I don't know if you got what I meant. There was feeling with Swanfire, it was so much real, and we could feel that. I have no crying moment with Captain Swan. Actually I like Hook, but as a villain and not with Emma. That's my opinion.

I like Emma and Hook, but I think Emma and Neal's relationship had more development and seemed more realistic to real life relationships and much more emotional and gut wrenching scenes. Emma and Hook's just seems a little superficial. Also Regina and Robin were another couple that had some pretty emotional and gut wrenching scenes.

Don't get me wrong, I really love Captain Swan. But Swanfire was written in the stars and after everything that Neal, Emma, and Henry went through, they really really deserved to get their happy ending together. As much as Emma loved Hook, she will never love him as much as she loved Neal. He did everything right and was still robbed of the chance to be with her and Henry and my heart hurts so badly for him. This scene was truly beautiful and I wish he would have gotten a different ending.

I don’t like this scene much. Well, no, I’ve got a mixed opinion. I like how we see Neal again, we see he is happy and in a peaceful place, and I love his character a lot. But, in the other hand, I don’t like the way Emma looks at Neal. Even if yes, she’s so happy to see him, to touch him once again, I feel like she do not just miss and care about him, but she’s still in love with him. This makes me feel like she would have never fallen in love with hook if Neal hadn’t died (and this hurts cause I’m a huge captainswan shipper)
