Neal is such a goofball. But he's the master. Plain and simple.
@edwardx.winston574410 жыл бұрын
Apparently God has not closed the valve on the Keystone-esque pipeline of hooky melodies that flows straight from glory to Neal's fevered brain, nor has Neal's love affair with prog abated in any measurable way. He is a one-man prog movement, a freight train with the throttle jammed wide open. An unstoppable force with lots of "momentum." Prog might be going the way of the dinosaur, but Morse and crew simply refuse to participate in the mass extinction. It's not just about chops, either. It's about passion, meaning, and transendence. 70's prog had a nobility, an idealism to it, guided to a great degree by the "flower child" Eastern philosophies of the day. Since then, prog lost its moral compass and degraded to math-rock chops-fests and nostalgia acts. Neal has seen fit to pluck the New Age heart from the genre and give it a transplant. A Christian heart now beats within the old girl, and she's better for it. The clear-eyed idealism and innocence are back, now infused with the Holy Ghost's power ever since Neal parted ways with the Beard. The old girl is looking better all the time now! Anyone who bristles at this shift should learn to be more tolerant of Morse's theological motivations. Those of us who are Christians and prog fans have had to stomach the hippie-trippy mysticism and paganism of prog's origins for decades. We got over it and still enjoyed the music. You will, too. Play on, Neal.

4 years and still a valuable comment right here, specially the last paragraph. People live and judge under double standards. As for Neil, his music is getting better by the year.

Portnoy must’ve been so stoked to play on a “thoughts” track. He’s enough of a music fan to know that’s significant
