"How old can I get and still act young?" Neal Unger, 60 year old proves that you can never be too old to have fun on a skateboard. This is so damn inspiring. Skateboarding truly is a gift.

+yvan carrasco don't care about them. I'm 40 and I do inline skating (for many years, now, maybe 20). I started to learn how to surf very recentely And I am thinking about learning how to skateboard. This video is very inspirational. Some people will always be afraid that others will laugh at them Unfortunaly, they will also laugh at others, to hide their own insecureties. So, don't mind what others say. If you feel like it, do it. We were meant to be active, mentally and physically. Oh, if you look closely, most of the big wave surfers are in their 50's. And Laird Hamilton's trainer, Don Wildman, is way past 75. And he learnt surf _(and tow-in surf, of all) from Hamilton when he was already a 60 year old guy.

I’m 57. Never stepped on a skateboard until I was 50. At about 53 I discovered downhill and freeride. There’s not a night goes by that I don’t lie in bed dreaming of toe slides, squatters, finding the line on beautiful pavement and flying down a hill against all reason. Against all good advice. I’ve gone down sick hills with some of the best skaters around and I can’t tell you how much I love it and the community of people in it. I watch Neal and I see his joy and feel his freedom. I get it Neal and I hope other people our age find something similar until ‘old’ becomes so ‘yesterday’.

My God man. I don't know what happen to me I just broke down man, tears everywhere. I gave up on skateboarding because I got married and had kids. to me skateboarding was my life the only thing that made me whole. watching this video just brought back all those feeling/memories that I repressed all those years. this video made me remember what I didn't lose because I can still get on my board and get that missing piece of my life back. Thanks Neal Unger.

Yeah.. I'm 27 now. Broke my spine 7 years ago in a work accident, ever since I have been afraid to ride. With a wife and kid, I never thought I would have the time to skate again. I've gotten fat and tired. Spent some time thinking about it and am going to pick up a fresh board this weekend and just go ride. (Very safely) Maybe soon I'll get up the courage to pump a half pipe once I get my balance again. I miss the smell of a fresh board, the click of the wheels on sidewalk, and the crush of someone better than me hitting the pipe and fucking crushing. Soon.. Very soon...

It's funny to me that other adults look at me with disgust when they see my 36 year old ass on a skateboard. Yet they spend their winter break on the ski slopes in France. So, I'm too old to skateboard but you can go skiiing? Got it, thanks! Glad there are people like this to remind the rest of us what we are allowed to have fun doing! Most people stop once they reach a certain age because they're not confident enough to be themselves. You don't have to fit in to that whole skater stereotype to skateboard. anyone should do it because it is FUN to ride on a board with wheels. People are such slaves to public perception, this is admirable of this man not because he's great on a skateboard but because he realizes that skateboarding gives him pleasure and he doesn't care what people think of him, thats why this is so rare to see. People will ride a hoverboard but not a skateboard. Also shout out to those people that ride scooters even from work. That is next level no fucks given.

It more than just confidence though. Many older people don't because they know it's easier to get hurt. Bones start to thin as we age. Percentage goes up after age 50 for broken hips due to falls, for example.... No one can escape this realization....

I'm 22 years old and I'm a bit on the large side. I was always scared of learning to skateboard because of fear of hurting myself. Keep in mind I played Varsity football and did boxing all thought out high school as a heavyweight. Big guys like me don't skateboard haha. But when I was told by my baby sister that she wants to learn how to skateboard and wants to learn with me. There is no chance I'm gonna say no to her haha. This video inspires me to get better at skating and to have a passionate hobby I can do with my sister. It's never to late to skate or to do anything if you truly want to do something. This man and others in the comment section prove that you don't have to be super young or really skinny to do something that you want to do. All we need is the desire to do it and the passion to continue doing it. If anyone is reading this that is just pursuing skateboarding or thinking about doing it I just want to say BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!!!! 😊

Oh yea, also I am slowly getting my mojo back trying tricks patiently with no attachment to how I look or how I can impress with skills. People look at me like I am a beginner not knowing I was better then a lot of them back in early 90's. Age will do that to you.

Yep I'll be 42 in a week. Started in 86 rode hard until 94 and off and on until 2002. Just started skating again 2.5 months ago and I can very much relate to You, Neal, and Nousu. In a short amount of time I have advanced quite quickly. I am already skating at a level equal to or higher than I was back in when I was half my age. Stillness of mind and mental/emotional quietude are very much at play. Just you, your board, and the trick. Nothing to prove. Only seeking oneness with the moment.

This guy personifies what skateboarding truly is, not the most technical tricks in the book, not the boydream about sponsors and fame. Its about the feeling you get when simply cruising around on youre skateboard. The tricks you manage to learn is just a bonus, for me anyway. I started skateboard when I was about 9 years old, for a very long time like every other boy in that age I had the dream about becoming a professional skateboarder. Some people held on to skateboarding even thru the early teenage years but most of them quit. Knowing that they`ll never reach there dream. Eventually I was one of them, quting. But recent years I got back to skateboarding and Its more fun then ever. To be able to enjoy it to the fullest without any pressure. Im 26years old now and even If there are times when im not skateboarding its allways going to be there for me. A chance to clear youre mind, and I think that becomes more imoportant the older you get.

thag13a I stopped skating at a young age because I just thought I was crap and never going to get better but now I'm 18 and it isn't about sponsorships or anything for me, I just want to use the creative portion of my mind to start again and to cruise the streets and to make the urban landscape my own, the freedom it can bring is exhilarating and for everytime you fall down, it'll teach you to get back up and dust yourself off and keep going.

Being 24 years old and quitting skateboarding at 14 (even though I still loved it, I had my reasons), I recently started back up as a way of just keeping in shape. I've realized what I've missed and love it all over again. I'm much more of a vert skater than a street skater, and was back when I started, so when I'm riding a half-pipe or skating around a bowl I feel free. Like getting older doesn't mean slowing down. Even though I am still in my 20s I get a lot of 'you're too old to skate' from friends and family. People think that I'm simply trying to not 'grow up' and act like a teenager. I have a decent job, I make a decent living, I have my bills that I take care of, but this just so happens to be my hobby again. I encourage anyone who skated at any point in their lives to just try again. You're going to be terrible if it's been a long time, but just try. Remember back when you were younger and learning how to do basic tricks and getting frustrated? That is still there as well as the gratification of landing that trick. This man is a great reminder that skateboarding isn't a juvenile thing, it's a sport and a fun hobby. I wouldn't mind having a beer or two with this guy.

Thomas Patton Starting again when I quit in my early 20's. I'd quit smoking, lost excess weight, stopped drinking (as much) and it got me through my exams because I was skating everyday and mentally focused. When I quit I was the healthiest I'd ever been physically and mentally. I got busted by the police more times skating than I ever did under age drinking or smoking - shows what adults at the time knew. My folks were good since they knew the score. Every time the police or authorities went to my folks about skating they would just laugh and say "come back when they start sniffing glue, drinking or causing real trouble". My left ankle is bolted together now. I can still land impossibles, is weird how some tricks just never leave you. I'm learning kick flips again - when I stopped, kick flipping was as natural to me as walking, I barely had to think about it. I've dabbled over the years but am starting again properly now. I'll be 39 in January next year and I'm determined to get kick flips back by then. Timing is everything in your life, it's truly yours, don't listen to others, don't let them pressure you, do what's right for you at the right time. I wish I'd never stopped but what's the point on dwelling on that, other good things happened to me and skating got me through a time and place in the most positive way possible.

As a fellow 60 year old (not a skateboarder but you got me thinking) you are an inspiration to me. One of the few things that saddens me is how many people our age (and younger) have fallen into the mindset of thinking it's natural and acceptable to become waddling sick chubbies as we age and lie to themselves believing the cliche that they've truly "been there, done that" with their lives. Thank you.

"It quiets the brain" I've never looked at it like that, but that's exactly what sport does for me and why I'll always be addicted to it. It simplifies life, I'm able to see things that look so complicated when you over-think them. And the knowledge that I find when training, can be applied throughout my whole life. Truly inspirational to see someone not let age stop them from enjoying the quietness of the brain.

migogc riding any kind of skateboard is totally ok, be it Penny board or longboard, since all variations of skateboard existed BEFORE the popsicle shape that's been with us for the last 15 years or so, and because if you're riding you're being your own engine and discovering your potential in the world. anyone who tells you what you're doing is wrong is the enemy

I just found this video on here. I'm 41 years old and I skated back in the late 80's and into the 90's. I gave it up for a while and picked it back up, just to let it go again. I let my work schedule get in the way. I still have a skateboard that I cruise on from time to time. Recently something lit my fire to start skating on a more serious level again and this video poured gas on the flame. Shame on me for thinking I was too old. Age is merely a number that we judge our life limitations and abilities on. Thanks Neal!!

The thing I love about skateboarding is that it's a very spiritual thing to do. At least for me. Not in a religious sense but that it can be a very calming activity. I used to skate in high school with my skating friends and we'd throw ourselves down stairs and rails but we all went our different ways. Now in my mid twenties, I lost my tricks but I learned to love to just simply ride. Just ride anywhere and everywhere. Even alone it's a great way to spend a day. You're never to old to pick up a skateboard.

Neal has Inspired me so much in this video.. People around me always say I will get hurt or worse.. Life is so risky none of us are getting out of it alive.. so why not go playing and being young at heart for as long as possible.. Thanks, brother Neal for inspiring..

I just picked a skateboard up at 50 years old, I had an old piece of wood on wheels in the late 70s so I'm not a complete beginner but when I'm riding now it feels like it was only yesterday. It really is a sublimely peaceful and zen inducing pastime and if you still feel young enough inside then go for it.

I’m 28 now and on the cusp of back surgery for 2 discs that have herniated over time and I just got back on a board in November (2018) after 5 years of not skating. I mostly cruise but have always had good board balance and I used to be able to Ollie pretty high. I’ve always loved skating and the calming feeling it gives me. I was extremely nervous that I was too old and battered (even at 28) to skate but Neal proves that you are never too old to do anything you love or want to do! Keep it up Neal you’re on my list of inspiring people and you are what skateboarding is all about!

It's a high age because 10 short years later at 70 you're not guaranteed to live past 70. That's the average age people die.
@weirdvideos307
@weirdvideos307 9 жыл бұрын
I think that at least 75 years old is average. 60 years is not high age because formally, 65 years are age in which person is becoming old (until that is middle age). But I'm actually talking about that 60 years old people can do almost everything like younger persons.
@Garrison64

No matter, there aren't many people over 60 who can do what Neal does. Actually there are tons of people in their 20's and 30's who can't do what Neal does. He's setting a positive image for aging and that is a very good thing as it can give people hope.
